UPDATED: Crew member of Star Cinema among the casualties in SuperFerry 9 tragedy

Dumating kaninang bandang ala-una ng hapon, September 7, mula sa Zamboanga ang crew ng Star Cinema na nakaligtas mula sa paglubog ng SuperFerry 9, ang barko na sinakyan nila sa General Santos City para makabalik sila sa Maynila.
Isang production crew ng Star Cinema ang kasama sa siyam na nasawi sa trahedya na naganap kahapon ng umaga. Kinilala ang biktima na si Fernando "Ronnie" Estrada, isang camera man. Ipinagluluksa ng Star Cinema ang pagpanaw ni Ronnie at nagpapasalamat din sila dahil buhay ang ibang mga miyembro ng crew.
Kasama sa paglubog ng barko ang mga camera at generator ng Star Cinema na ginamit sa shooting ng pelikula nina Ai-Ai delas Alas at former President Joseph Estrada.
Dumayo sa General Santos City ang production crew ng Star Cinema dahil kay Mommy Dionisia Pacquiao, ang ina ni Manny Pacquiao. May special participation si Dionisia sa pelikula at para makunan ang kanyang mga eksena, siya ang pinuntahan ng mga artista at production crew ng Star Cinema sa GenSan.
Hindi pumayag si Dionisia na lumuwas sa Maynila para sa shooting ng pelikula. May panata at paniniwala ang ina ni Manny na dapat siyang mamalagi ng tatlong magkakasunod na buwan sa GenSan dahil kung hindi ito matutupad, baka may masamang mangyari.
Samantala, nakatanggap naman ang PEP ng text message mula sa managing director ng Star Cinema na si Ms. Malou Santos kaugnay ng trahedyang naganap.
Narito ang kanyang mensahe:
"We thank God for the safety of our 28 production crew members as we mourn the loss of one camera man, Fernando Estrada. We also extend our appreciation to the Philippine Navy and Coast Guard teams and the crew of private sea vessels who help in the rescue process that saved hundreds of lives including our people. They are now back in Manila and will be given necessary assistance."
