The musical artist-actor-entrepreneur says he's dating Kryssa Mae Arrieta, but won't admit to anything more serious. "She's a girl, and she's a friend," he just laughed.

Isa si Jay-R sa mga celebrity na talagang pinaghahandaan ang future. Nakakaisang taon na pala mula nang magka-franchise siya ng Mini-Stop. Ang convenience store niya ay nasa kanto ng Wilson St. at P. Guevarra St. sa San Juan.
"Maganda kasing business yung immediate needs talaga ng mga tao," sabi ni Jay-R. "Gaya ng pagkain, toiletries, everything seems to be available here na, kaya it's really good business.
"Si Katya Santos ang nag-recommend sa akin na pasukin ko ang ganitong business. Pero, siyempre sa umpisa, gusto kong kumuha rin ng franchise ng Mang Inasal. Yun ang gusto kong isunod, at saka water filling station," aniya pa.
Gusto sana niyang magkaroon ng Burger Machine pero sa pag-i-inquire niya, nalaman niyang wala palang franchise ang business na ito.
"Okey sana ang Mang Inasal, pero sobrang mahal! Seven million pesos! Yung requirement kasi, kailangang may malaking area. Yung manpower nila requires 28 people.
"Siguro, yung water station na lang ang isusunod ko. Hindi ko lang alam kung saan. Pero, gusto ko 'pag water station na, sarili ko na, hindi na franchise. Gusto kong gumawa ng sarili kong business."
CHOOSY WITH ROLES. Usually, may pelikula siya tuwing filmfest. This year, mukhang wala siyang bagong pelikula.
"Picky kasi si Arnold [Vegafria, his manager] sa roles na tinatanggap ko. Gusto niya, yung mabango yung roles. This year, walang bagay na role among those na inaalok sa akin," paliwanag ni Jay-R.
First and foremost, musical artist pa rin siya. He's coming up with a Christmas album na iri-release next month.
"Baka yung first single from the album, yung 'Winter Wonderland' or 'Christmas Song,' depende," sabi ni Jay-R. "Magsu-shoot na ako ng music video for any of the two songs. Iri-release ng Universal Records yung album, under my own label, which is Homeworkz Records."
Inaalagaan naman siya ng GMA-7. Magse-seven years na siya rito. Hindi na siya binibitiwan sa SOP, at sa kasalukuyan ay tampok siya sa Dear Friend. Kasama si Jay-R sa concert ni Dionne Warwick sa October 2, at may duet sila na dapat abangan ng marami.
For a while, na-link siya kay Kyla, pero wala naman daw yun. Friends lang talaga. Inamin niyang nakikipag-date siya kay Kryssa Mae Arrieta.
"She's a girl, and she's a friend," natatawang sabi ni Jay-R nang tanungin namin kung girlfriend na nga ba niya ito.
Every time na mag-e-expire ang contract ni Jay-R sa GMA-7, lumilitaw ang tsikang lilipat na siya sa ABS-CBN.
"Pero, hindi naman totoo. Kasi, wala namang offer ang ABS-CBN. Hindi ko alam. I will stick with GMA, for as long as they are going to keep me. Pero, kung hindi na sila mag-renew ng renewal ng contract, I think that's the time na I have to leave GMA-7. So far, wala namang rason para iwan ko ang GMA.
"Wala akong magiging choice, 'cause I really have to work, di ba?" nasabi na lang ni Jay-R.
