Last month pa unang umugong ang usap-usapan na hindi na magre-renew ng kanyang contract si Claudine Barretto sa Star Magic, ang talent management arm ng ABS-CBN, na nag-aruga at nagpasikat sa kanya mula nang magsimula siya sa showbiz.
Last week, napabalita muli sa isa pang pahayagan na lilipat na si Claudine Barretto ng kuwadra. Pero it turned out na hindi naman pala TV network—from Kapamilya to Kapuso—kundi film outfit.
Last Thursday, October 8 ng gabi, naganap ang paglipat na 'yon ni Claudine nang mag-sign ito ng two-picture contract sa Viva Films ni Boss Vic del Rosario, sa Viva offices sa Tektite Towers in Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
Masayang sinalubong si Claudine ng Viva executives na sina Boss Vic, ang anak nitong si Veronique del Rosario-Corpus, at June Torrejon-Rufino. Nandoon rin ang talent manager na si Shirley Kuan, na manager din nina Albert Martinez, Helen Gamboa, at co-manager ni KC Concepcion, among others.
Nagpadala ng text message ang PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kay Shirley, verifying kung siya na ba ang bagong business manager ni Claudine.
Ang reply ni Shirley: "Star Magic pa rin. Nagpasama lang siya sa akin."
RETURN TO THE BIG SCREEN. At any rate, sa nasabing contract signing, ayon sa report ng SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon kagabi, October 9, ilang movie concepts ang kanilang napag-usapan.
"Masayang-masaya ako and I'm very excited coz this is the very first time I'm doing a movie with Viva for a movie," sabi ni Claudine. "I asked permission kay Tita Mariole [Alberto, of Star Magic] at saka kay Mr. M [Johnny Manahan], and Star Magic.
"Ang last movie ko, you must remember, was Sukob pa [with Kris Aquino] and that was in 2006. So, talagang ang feeling ko, parang na-miss ko talaga yung big screen," sambit ng aktres.
Ito'y isang malaking career move para kay Claudine. Pero nangangahulugan din bang iiwan na niya ang Star Cinema—ang film outfit ng Dos—kung saan ilang pelikula ang nagawa niya, na karamiha'y nag-hit at ang ilan ay nagka-award pa?
"Hindi naman ako umalis," paglilinaw ng aktres. "Hindi naman... I'm still gonna be working with them. So, wala... Konting freedom lang ang hiningi ko."
Ibinalita nitong may gagawin nga raw siyang isang Star Cinema movie, pero sa January pa ang start ng shooting nito.
"Sa January pa yun, e. E, we're hoping we could already start working itong November, kasi parang ang tagal-tagal na," pahayag niya.
A SERIES WITH SIS. Magkaganoon man, tuloy pa rin ang pagiging Kapamilya ng aktres dahil, pagbabalita pa rin niya, tuloy ang teleserye nila ng kanyang kapatid na si Gretchen Barretto sa ABS-CBN.
"Tuloy pa rin ang show namin ng ate ko. Kung kelan ilalabas, hindi namin alam. Supposedly, it's October 10 ang start ng taping namin, and then, na-move to the 16th, so... Inaayos pa, may mga inaayos pa, because of the bagyo nga."
Masaya si Claudine dahil may mga bago siyang makakatrabaho sa pelikula, gaya ni Anne Curtis, isang homegrown Viva talent (na may 10 years na yatang mahigit sa kanila), na isa sa mga concept na napag-usapan sa naturang contract-signing.
"I've been telling Anne for the longest time that I'd really love to work with her, and at least, hindi lang kami magkakasama sa iisang network, kundi sa pelikula rin sa labas," say niya.
Ayon sa text message that we got from Ms. Veronique naman ng Viva: "We just presented concepts to her, no final decision yet." Kaya hindi pa confirmed ang Claudine-Anne movie, sa ngayon.
Under Viva, kasalukuyang nagsu-shoot ng bagong pelikula sina Aga Muhlach at Regine Velasquez, pinamagatang Of All The Things, directed by Joyce Bernal.
