Cinemanila 2009 will screen 80 films from 30 countries at Market! Market! in Taguig. Founding festival director Tikoy Aguiluz encourages moviegoers to "celebrate and enjoy what world cinema has to offer." The 11th edition of Cinemanila will run until October 25.

"Filmmakers are no longer ivory tower artists. As filmmakers, they are also citizens who help their fellowmen and continue making films," makahulugang banggit ni direktor Amable "Tikoy" Aguiluz VI sa kanyang speech sa opening night ng 11th Cinemanila International Film Festival 2009 noong October 15.
AUSTERE OPENING, RICH OFFERINGS. In keeping with the current situation, nasaksihan ang isang simple o austere rites ng Cinemanila sa bago nitong venue.
This year, in-introduce ng CIFF '09 ang Machinima, isang animation section in two categories: Video Shorts (entries include Clockwork, I Don't Like The Dark, The Visitor, The Stolen Child, Traders, at The Body Is Obsolete) at Music Videos (entries include Brief Encounter, Nobody Dance, Inside Your Head, The Graveyard, Worship The Will, at Wish For You).
"I'm really excited!" masayang banggit ni Direk Tikoy. "I think we have a very good track record, the selections are good...."
RECOGNITION ABROAD.
CINEMANILA FOR DISASTER VICTIMS.
Sabi ni Direk Tikoy, "We have a lot to be thankful for. This marks the beginning of a new decade, wherein our filmmakers and Philippine cinema has arrived..."
