Ms. Wilma Galvante, senior vice-president for Entertainment TV of GMA Network, issued an official statement about the sudden resignation of Perry Lansigan as executive producer of the weekly musical-variety show SOP.
This is to dismiss earlier reports claiming that Lansigan was "removed" from SOP and "was left with no other choice" but to leave the show.
Lansigan bid goodbye last Sunday, October 25, and had the stars and staff of SOP reportedly in tears. He has been with SOP for 13 years and with GMA-7 for 18 years.
Here is the official statement of Ms. Galvante:
"Perry Lansigan RESIGNED from SOP to fully concentrate as President and CEO of PPL Entertainment, Inc., a production and talent management company which he formally established in September. He could not tender his resignation sooner because he waited until I returned from my official trip to Cannes. For the record, Perry has been with GMA as a talent production staff for 18 years. He has been with SOP for 13 years and in all these years, Perry has only shown professionalism and competency in his work.
"With Perry's creativity, discipline and management savvy, it is inevitable that he would want to grow and expand his boundaries and eventually be a major player in this industry. No one can deny him that.
"GMA is grateful for the service and loyalty of Perry and will continue to support him, his projects and most especially his roster of talents who are under exclusive contracts with the Network."
Aside from being a talent production staff of GMA-7, Lansigan also handles the showbiz careers of the following Kapuso stars: Dingdong Dantes, Geoff Eigenmann, Gabby Eigenmann, Angelika dela Cruz, Arthur Solinap, Carlo Gonzales, and very recently, Jolina Magdangal.
Lansigan's resignation shocked nearly everyone he worked with. In an earlier interview, he said that his work as a manager has no conflict with his work in GMA-7.
"Alam ito ng GMA. Declared sa kanila. Walang kaso, kaya yung nagsasabi diyan na hindi alam ng GMA, pinagbawalan, I beg to disagree dahil declared ito since day one. Mula nang maging talent ko si Dingdong 12 years ago, alam ng GMA yun. At kung 12 years ago pinagbawalan ako, sana noon pa lang inayos ko na," Lansigan said. (CLICK HERE to read full interview.)
During the blessing of the office of his talent management and events company, PPL Entertainment Inc., some of the executives of the Kapuso network were also present.
