Nag-guest sa November 3 episode ng U.S. late night show na Jimmy Kimmel Live! ang Welterweight champion ng International Boxing Organization (IBO) at Ring magazine na si Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao.
Sa umpisa ng show, nagpalabas muna ang host na si Jimmy Kimmel ng isang clip kunsaan ipinapakitang sinusuntok ni Manny ang mga nakasabit na Halloween pumpkins o kalabasa sa isang parte ng studio. Pagkatapos ng clip, tinawag pa ni Kimmel na "future president of the Philippines" ang Pambansang Kamao.
Sa interview segment, habang ipinakikilala ni Kimmel si Manny, napuno ang studio ng sigawan. "Manny! Manny!" Halos puro Filipino ang mga nakaupo sa audience section. Nagpatawa tuloy si Kimmel nang sabihan niya sila, "I don't need him to think this is a fight, I don't want to be punched."
Napag-usapan nina Kimmel at Manny ang tungkol sa palayaw nitong "Pacman," ang malaking entourage ni Manny, ang nalalapit na laban ni Manny sa Puerto Rican boxing champ na si Miguel Cotto, at pati na rin ang tungkol sa paggamit ng Pinoy boxing champ ng isang makapal at mahabang kahoy na pamalo sa kanyang training.
Sabi pa ni Kimmel kay Manny sa kanilang interview, "You're like the most popular guy in all of the Philippines, right?" na ikinatawa ni Manny. "When you go back there, it must be crazy, I mean, you must not be able to go anywhere?"
"People recognize me..." maikling sagot na lang ni Manny sa huling sinabi ni Kimmel tungkol sa popularidad ng boxing champ at kahihirang lang na 2009 ESPY Awards Best Fighter awardee.
Naglabas pa si Kimmel ng poster ng 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival movie ni Manny na Wapakman, at tinanong si Manny tungkol sa iba pang talent nito tulad ng pag-arte at pagkanta.
Kaya tuloy, matapos ang interview at commercial gap, pinakanta ng American Jew host si Manny, na sinabayan naman ng house band ng show na Cleto and the Cletones. Inawit ni Manny ang "Sometimes When We Touch" (orihinal na kinanta ng Canadian singer na si Dan Hill).
REMEMBER? Matatandaang naging target ng batikos ng mga Filipino noong 2007 si Jimmy Kimmel, nang sabihin nito sa isang episode ng show niya, na hindi marunong magsalita ng Ingles ang mga Filipino.
Nagbanta ng lawsuit ang mga grupo ng Pinoy lawyers at nagde-demand ng apology mula kay Kimmel. Pero dedma lang si Kimmel, hindi siya humingi ng paumanhin.
Samantala, sa Nobyembre 14 na ang laban ni Manny sa tangkang makuha ang World Boxing Organization welterweight belt ni Miguel Cotto. Gaganapin ang laban nila sa MGM Grand sa Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A.
