Last Sunday, November 22, sa Showbiz Central, may bumulugang teaser or headline na may cancer raw ang aktres na si Sandy Andolong. Ikinagulat raw ito ng marami, at ikinagalit ng asawa ni Sandy na si Christopher de Leon.
"Something as big as that, I just thought they should have first inquired kung totoo nga o hindi," ang sabi ng aktor, dahil kidney ailment lamang ang naging sakit ng asawa at ngayo'y maayos na ito.
Inamin ni Boyet na "natawa pa nga ako noong umpisa. But of course, as a Christian, ni-rebuke ko kaagad. In Jesus Name, I rebuke you!"
Ayon sa napag-alaman ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), ang nagkamali raw sa paghahatid ng balita ay ang head writer ng show na si Rey Agapay.
APOLOGY ACCEPTED. Pero sa kabila ng lahat, nagpapasalamat naman at na-appreciate ni Sandy ang pagpapadala ng fruits and flowers ng Showbiz Central sa kanya bilang gesture of apology.
Iyong galit ni Boyet ay humupa na rin daw, natatawa niyang sinabi.
"Siyempre, initial reaction niya, ano ba 'yan? That's so impossible reporting. I was able to talk to somebody and I asked, saan nila nakuha yun?... According to one of the host, yung isang writer raw to that effect ang nagtsismis na parang may cancer ako which is not true. Not true at all. I'm very healthy. I'm very happy. God has been good and He's always been good to me."
Pinaliwanag ni Sandy kung ano ang naging karamdaman niya:
"Meron akong kidney ailment but merong medication naman. Name-maintain naman, yun lang. I'm okay. It's not really something that serious. And my doctors are very happy with the last test, okay naman ako.
"It's just maintenance, but I'm alright. They allowed me to work and I can go anywhere. I can do whatever I want."
FEELING THE LOVE. But because of that issue, na-realize daw ng akres na marami palang nagmamahal sa kanya.
"Maski na na-retract na yun, ang dami pa rin nagte-text. From Batangas, all over the Philippines , they are texting me and my husband. Praying for me and people are really saddened about the news."
May mga nag-offer rin daw ng healing prayer.
"Meron! Marami, pero tinanggap ko na rin, di ba? At prayer is the most powerful ano, di ba?" natatawa niyang sabi.
Kahit hindi masama ang ikinabunga ng maling balita tungkol sa kanya, nais pa ring iparating ni Sandy sa mga talk shows, "be very careful especially yung something as serious as that. I-confirm niyo muna before you announce it...
"Si Gorgy [Rula, reporter] nga, tinanong ko, 'Gorgy, 'asan ka?' Nasa GMA raw. Sabi ko, tumalon ka kung nasaan man studio, i-correct mo sila right away. Okey naman, nag-retract naman right away and I feel they are so sweet also sending me flowers with a letter."
What worried Sandy the most was her mom at ang magiging reaction daw nito. Mabuti na lang at hindi nito nabalitaan.
"But some of my relatives are really reacted. Especially yung sa side ni Christopher. And my friends! Ang nakakatuwa, sa mga kaibigan ko na very, very close ko, medyo may tampo pa sa akin. Napaniwala siya. She was stunned. Parang ang feeling niya, huh? Bakit hindi ko alam? Sabi ko, ikaw naman talaga, isa ka pa. Puwede ba namang hindi mo malaman, e, isa ka sa mga malapit sa akin," natatawa niyang sabi.
WORK AS THERAPY. Na-interview ng PEP at ilang entertainment press si Sandy sa thanksgiving party ng Stairway to Heaven na ginanap sa 17th floor ng GMA building noong Thursday, November 26. Kinumpirma nito ang sinabi ni Boyet na kung may isang nagpapalakas daw sa kanya, ito ay ang pagtatrabaho sa Stairway to Heaven.
"Oh yes, talagang there's not a day that I don't look forward to going to our taping. Kasi nga, we're just a small cast. Parang nag-build bond. Nagkaroon ng bonding. Si Dingdong [Dantes] for me is like my own son. Naging close rin ako kay Ms. Jean [Garcia]. Kay Direk Joyce Bernal, kay Direk Andoy Ranay. Napaka-light nila to work with. Mami-miss ko," nakangiti niyang sabi.
