ABS-CBN's newest primetime drama series Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo premiered last night, January 18, with an impressive 34.4 percent to land in second place behind GMA-7's 24 Oras, which posted a rating of 35.7 percent.
Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo boasts a powerhouse cast: Kris Aquino, Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, Coco Martin, Gabby Concepcion, Albert Martienz, Gina Pareño, Jaclyn Jose, and Maricar Reyes.
This new Kapamilya soap went up against GMA-7's The Last Prince, starring Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal—considered closest rival of the Kimerald tandem. The Kapuso fantaserye managed to hold its own by posting a respectable 31.7 percent to grab fourth spot, behind Darna's 32.9 percent.
Completing the Top 5 was ABS-CBN's reality show Pinoy Big Brother Double Up, which generated a 31.1 percent rating.
Other shows that made it to the Top 10 are: May Bukas Pa (31 percent), TV Patrol World (28.6 percent), Full House (28.3 percent), Tanging Yaman (24.2 percent), and Boys Over Flowers (20.8 percent). Except for Full House, all these programs are from ABS-CBN.
Kung Tayo's Magkakalayo occupied the timeslot vacated by another powerhouse drama series, Dahil May Isang Ikaw. The show—which starred Lorna Tolentino, Gabby Concepcion, John Estrada, Chin Chin Gutierrez, Jericho Rosales, Kristine Hermosa, Karylle, and Sid Lucero—posted a rating of 33.9 percent on its final episode last Friday, Jan. 15. It also ranked second overall behind May Bukas Pa's 34.2 percent.
Three Kapuso shows took the third to fifth spots: Darna (30 percent), 24 Oras (29 percent), and The Last Prince (28.7 percent).
GMA-7 programs, meanwhile, dominated the weekday daytime race. Eat Bulaga! consistently held the No. 1 position, while Tinik Sa Dibdib and Kapuso Movie Festival alternately took the second and third spots.
Eat Bulaga! also topped the daytime race last Saturday, Jan. 16, while ABS-CBN's ASAP XV took the top spot last Sunday, Jan. 17.
Pinoy Big Brother Double Up was the top choice among primetime programs on both Saturday and Sunday.
