The Philippines' hope to finally land a nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category of the Oscar Awards died when Ded Na Si Lolo, RP's entry this year, failed to be included in the short list.

According to theenevelope.com, "from an original list of 65, nine films remain in the derby for the foreign language film at the 82nd Academy Awards."

The nine remaining films that still have a shot to make it in the final five nominees are the following:

El Secreto de Sus Ojos (Argentina)

Samson and Delilah (Australia)

The World is Big and Salvation is Right Around the Corner (Bulgaria)

Un Prophete (A Prophet) (France)

The White Ribbon (Germany)

Ajami (Israel)

Kelin (Kazahkstan)

Winter in Wartime (The Netherlands)

The Milk of Sorrow (Peru)

Germany's The White Ribbon was named Best Foreign Language Film in the recently concluded Golden Globe Awards.

Ded Na Si Lolo, an indie film produced by APT Entertainment and directed by Soxie Topacio, stars Gina Alajar, Elizabeth Oropesa, Manilyn Reynes, BJ Forbes, Dick Israel, Rainier Castillo, and Roderick Paulate. The film pokes fun at Filipino beliefs and traditions when someone dies.

Ded Na Si Lolo (Grandfather Is Dead) was chosen by the Film Academy of the Films to be the country's entry to the 82nd Oscar Awards. It was Graded A by the Cinema Evaluation (Board) when it was shown in limited release last May 2009.
