Ibang klase rin ang loyalty ni Christian Bautista sa ASAP. Kung sakaling matuloy raw ang paggawa niya ng soap opera sa Indonesia, hihilingin niya raw na weekly umuwi sa Pilipinas para makapag-perform sa ASAP every Sunday.
No wonder na ganado ang ASAP na ipag-produce siya ng concert. Christian will be the last artist featured sa concert series ng ASAP sa Music Museum on March 12 and 13.
"I'm very thankful to ASAP kasi through the years, binibigyan po nila ako ng concert," sabi ni Christian sa isang press conference sa Centerstage, Timog. "I think my first concert with them was with Rachelle Ann Go sa Aliw Theater. Pang-apat ko na po ito. I love ASAP."
Dahil madalas na ang balitang may gagawing projects si Christian sa Indonesia, nagkaroon ng impression na iiwanan niya ang career sa Pilipinas at magpo-focus na sa Indonesia.
Aniya, "I just want to clear things up. Hindi naman po ako talaga lilipat dun at titira run. Kasi, malapit naman po siyang talaga. It's just three hours. Parang Hongkong lang siya. So, ang deal namin sa kanila, if ever na matuloy namin, makakauwi talaga ako para mag-ASAP.
"So, ayoko talagang iwan ang ASAP. At saka, dahil nga sa ASAP, nakikita kami sa TFC. So, ang priority ko talaga is ASAP, too."
INTRIGUES. No doubt masigla ang singing career ni Christian. Pero kasabay ng pagdo-double platinum ng album niyang Romanced Revisited: The Love Songs of Jose Mari Chan, ay mga sari-saring intriga, tulad ng ayaw daw nilang magsama sa isang dressing room ni Jed Madela sa ASAP¸bagay na ilang ulit nang pinabulaanan ni Christian.
"Gusto nga namin na magkakasama kaming lahat sa dressing room. Nakakapag-practice kami run, nakakapagkuwentuhan kami run. Actually, ako, personally, ayoko nang mag-isa lang ako sa dressing room...
"Siguro kasama talaga yun kapag yung album mo, medyo okey naman. So, you just have to expect na may mga questions na ganyan na darating. Pero ang importante, we know sa amin, magkakaibigan kaming lahat at sinusuportahan namin ang isa't isa."
Hindi rin daw siya nakikikumpetensiya kay Piolo Pascual na may number one album din. Nagpupumilit daw kasi ang mga fans ni Christian na mas maganda ang Romance Revisited niya kaysa sa Decades ni Piolo.
"Well, naging number one na rin naman talaga ang album ko, matagal rin, mga eight weeks sa Odyssey," paliwanag ni Christian. "Siyempre naman, lalo na rito sa Pilipinas, kung ano yung bago, yun ang tatangkilikin ng mga tao at maganda rin naman ang album ni Piolo Pascual. Pati packaging, maganda rin. So, number one talaga siya ngayon."
RACHELLE'S FRIEND, NOT CONFIDANTE. Tinanong namin si Christian kung nagko-confide pa rin sa kanya si Rachelle Ann Go on matters of the heart, pero nagulat kami nang sabihin niyang siya na mismo ang naglagay ng limit sa puwedeng pag-usapan nila ng dating kasintahan.
"We're friends now. Tapos, during our breakup, yung emotion ng isang tao, vulnerable, hindi mo alam kung ano. As a friend, I also want to protect her. So, sabi ko sa kanya, it's okay to confide with me something, pero huwag na yung mga malalalim or detailed.
"Kasi, I'm an ex, e. So, hindi proper."
Kung binibigyan niya ng limit ang friendship nila, "unfortunately, ganun talaga," ang sagot ni Christian.
"Have you ever been in love?" tanong niya sa amin. "Alam natin na if you're having a problem with your current boyfriend or girlfriend, it's not proper to talk about it with your ex. Personally, it's not. Siguro sa ibang tao, okay lang.
"Ang advice ko sa kanya, I am still your friend. I will help in any way I can, but not so much na with the romance. She understands and she's mature enough to understand that."
OPEN TO OPPORTUNITIES. Nabalitaang nagkaroon daw siya ng alok sa TV5 dahil hindi naman siya exclusive star ng ABS-CBN. Pero ayon kay Christian, as far as he knows, wala siyang ganoong offer.
Nakangiti niyang sinabi, "Ang contract ko po sa ABS-CBN ay ASAP... Based on that contract, since ASAP, ang hindi lang ako puwedeng mag-guest ay [sa shows na] parang ASAP din like SOP. Pero nakaka-guest naman ako sa Eat Bulaga, Master Showman, Juicy... kasi nga, hindi rin naman ako [talent ng] Star Magic.
"Siguro kung may mag-offer rin na other network, we will consider it but my loyalty is with ASAP and ABS-CBN kasi sila talaga ang nagsuporta sa akin."
