Nonito and Rachel Donaire downplay comparison to Manny and Jinkee Pacquiao


 
"I'm truly blessed to have someone like her kasi she's been there for me, not only as a wife. Kahit we've only been married for almost two years, it's like we have known each other for a very long time. Pag mahal n'yo ang isa't isa and you trust each other, I think that's the key for a better and happy life together," says Nonito Donaire about his wife Rachel.

Na-interview ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ang mag-asawang Nonito at Rachel Donaire during the presscon na ibinigay sa kanila ng Mikaela Aesthetic Clinic bilang newest endorsers na ginanap last Monday, March 8, sa Annabel's restaurant.

 

Magdadalawang taon na ngang kasal sina Nonito at Rachel simula noong ikasal sila last August 8, 2008 sa Carnel Beach sa Monterey California, USA.

 

Ano ang reaksyon nila pag sinasabing "ideal couple" sila?

 

Ayon kay Nonito, "We just want to give a good example. Si Rachel with the women for their health and feeling good for yourself. Sa akin naman is to help the kids, inspire the kids. But I think it's showing that we can do it, anybody can do it. We just live normal. This is who we are, this is how we are."

 

Sabi naman ni Rachel, "This is how we are. And I think what we're showing is a couple that really love each other, blessed by God. With that, I think more couple can be inspired to communicate with each other, work on their relationship more. Because it's not all easy."

 

Nagkakaroon din ba sila ng tampuhan?

 

"Oh, yeah!" bulalas ni Nonito. "And when we fight, emotional ako, e. You know, that's really a part of life, it's part of the marriage. There are good things and there are bad things that you really have to learn to accept. Communicate, that's what we do. With that, we understand each other more and the more we love each other."

 

Siguro marami ang naku-curious kung paano ba sila mag-away. Sila ba yung physical dahil isang boksingero at isang taekwondo champ ang nag-aaway?

 

"No, I never hit Rachel," sabi ng boxing champ. "Actually, I would never put my hands on any girl, especially not my wife. Kahit nagtatampuhan kami, kahit nag-aaway kami, kahit nagsisigawan kami, I will never hit her."

 

Si Rachel naman daw ay umiiyak lang pag nag-aaway sila. Pero meron daw silang nakakatawang karanasan nang minsan silang mag-away.

 

"He was training and then he got mad at me, I don't know why. He was sparring and then the last sparring round, he told the guy to give me the gloves and he said, 'Here, you want to punch me. Come on.' It was funny. I can't hit him because he keeps on moving. So, medyo I just got tired and I said, 'I'm too tired to fight na. Okay na.' So, okay na, we kiss and makeup na!" natatawang kuwento ni Rachel.

 

MANNY & JINKEE PACQUIAO. Hindi maiiwasang maikumpara sila sa mag-asawang Manny at Jinkee Pacquiao dahil sa halos parehong mundong ginagalawan nila. Parehong boxers sina Nonito at Manny samantalang pareho ring na-e-endorse ng beauty clinic sina Rachel at Jinkee (Belo Medical Group).

 

"For me, first of all, we're friends. Manny and Jinkee, we're friends with them," paglilinaw ni Rachel. "So, we're not making it as a competition. I believe it's just the people that would make it as a competition. For us, we know that we're all friends and there's nothing bad between us. And for the media that keeps on asking us that, we want to join forces to encourage people to patronize our local clinics here rather than going to other countries regarding surgical and non-surgical procedures. We don't need to compete with them."

 

Ano ang masasabi nila sa mga kontrobersiyang kinasasangkutan nina Manny at Rachel lalo na sa recent intrigues sa relationship nila?

 

"When we saw Jinkee at the Cotto fight, as friends we... I offered my support," sabi ni Rachel. "If she wants to talk, we're here. But we don't go into, 'Is that true?' Honestly, it's all tsismis lang talaga. So, as friends, we offered support lang. I feel sorry that people try to destroy a relationship as good as theirs. I mean, there's a family behind them, they have kids. You have to be careful with things like that especially with the kids. I think Jinkee and Manny are strong enough. They've been through all these intrigues, so I know they can overcome others that will come as well."

 

As friends of Manny and Jinkee, ano ang message na gusto nilang sabihin sa mag-asawa?

 

"Communication I think is the key," sabi ni Nonito. "The kids are important naman. For me, they are older than me, so wala pa akong krapatan na magsabi ng ganito, ganyan. Hindi ko pa na-experience yung mga na-experience nila. So, wala po talaga akong masabi except for supporting them. When they need a shoulder or friend to call, nandito lang kami."

 

READY TO FACE INTRIGUES. Ngayong kinuha na rin sina Nonito at Rachel ng GMA Artist Center bilang talents, dahil sa kanilang pagpasok sa showbiz, ready na rin ba silang humarap sa mga intriga katulad ng mga ibinabato sa mag-asawang Pacquiao?

 

"Kahit hindi pa kami celebrity, meron naman talagang ganun-ganun [intriga]," banggit ni Nonito. "You know, we just try to avoid yung mga circumstances that might come out. Of course, you never know. What matters is we trust each other. Kasama ko naman lagi ang wife ko. We just laugh at it if ever. Kasi alam naman namin kung ano yung totoo and we're always together."
