FHM Philippines marked its 10th anniversary with a big party last night, March 11, at the NBC Tent in Taguig City.
Past and present cover girls graced the occasion, including the latest issue-cover darlings Bangs Garcia and Iwa Moto, of course.
The two sexy vixens share front-page credits in the magazine's special anniversary edition, FHM's thickest issue to date. Aside from Iwa and Bangs, plus other featured ladies, the latest issue chronicles 10 years of FHM by looking back at milestones that shaped the magazine's reputation.
Serving as the evening's highlight was the presentation of the 25 Sexiest Women of the Decade as chosen by FHM Philippines. Celebrities Aubrey Miles, Bangs Garcia, Cristine Reyes, Eula Valdes, Francine Prieto, Iwa Moto, Jean Garcia, Katrina Halili, Katya Santos, and Valerie Concepcion all took centerstage to acknowledge the honor.
Those who made it to the list but were unable to attend were Angel Locsin, Angelica Panganiban, Asia Agcaoili, Assunta de Rossi, Bianca King, Cindy Kurleto, Cristine Garcia, Diana Zubiri, Dina Bonnevie, Ehra Madrigal, Jackie Rice, Joyce Jimenez, Maureen Larrazabal, Maui Taylor, Patricia Javier, Rufa Mae Quinto, and Sunshine Cruz.
Radio jocks Slick Rick, Tony Toni, and Sam YG hosted the event while the Jay Contreras-led band Kamikazee rocked the evening away.
ELITE LIST OF BEAUTIES. FHM Philippines editor-in-chief Allan Madrilejos in an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) revealed that coming up with the unranked list was based more on editorial team instincts than on method.
"Sa sampung taon natin sa magazine, parang imposible na hindi mo alam kung sinu-sino 'yong talagang mahal ng mga mambabasa mo," said Allan. "May sense of objectivity, siyempre, kailangan mong magtanong sa ibang editors, sa Summit [Media, FHM-Philippines' publishing company], sa ibang mga kaibigan natin. Malaking bagay din 'yong mga hits nila sa ating www.fhm.com.ph. Nagtanong din tayo sa ating mga advertising team as far as revenues and circulation. Siyempre, malaking bagay 'yon."
The team also gave major consideration to personalities who played a huge role in the magazine's steady climb to the top.
Madrilejos cited Sunshine Cruz, the magazine's first Pinay cover during its infancy and sexy actress Diana Zubiri, whose cover shoot done on a Mandaluyong flyover in 2002 prompted the city government to issue a subpoena against the magazine's staff. They were among the celebrities who left an indelible mark on FHM's rich history.
The process was not easy. Many celebrities had generously accepted the magazine's invitation to pose for its pages.
"Ginawa namin 'yong list as representation ng past, present and future ng magazine... Sila 'yong kumakatawan sa growth ng FHM," he added.
Other personalities spotted by PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the NBC Tent were Aubrey Miles's boyfriend Troy Montero, Eat Bulaga's Julia Clarete, actor Sid Lucero, and award-winning poet and television host Lourd de Veyra.
