Sa panayam ni Butch Francisco kina Rosa Rosal at Toni Rose Gayda sa Startalk kahapon, March 20, kinumusta niya ang unang gabi ng mag-ina nang maiuwi na nila ang urn ni Edward James Lim.
Sabi ni Toni Rose, "Gusto ng mommy ko, dun sa room niya. Ako naman halos hindi ako nakatulog considering na 24 hours na akong gising, 5 to 5 talaga, 5 ng umaga hanggang kaninang 5 ng madaling-araw.
"Nandun lang ako sa kuwarto niya. Tinitingnan-tingnan ko yung things niya and I didn't want to touch anything first kasi parang, hindi pa 'ko ganun ka-prepared to go through sa mga naiwan niya. Yung parang I just want to keep everything there the way he left it muna siguro for a while."
Para naman sa lola ni James na si Ms. Rosa Rosal, "Sabi ko kay Toni at saka kay John, he's going to be with me in my room. Yun... I slept well... Then, we're really bothered. Because yung brother, they said, nakalagay dun sa [newspapers]... he committed suicide. Pati nga yung tatay [Moonie Lim] galit na galit kanina.
"And he talked to Mayor Benhur [Abalos, Mandaluyong City]. At yun nga, sabi ng asawa niya, kung magsu-suicide ang anak ko, hindi sa fourth floor. Aakyat siya sa 19th floor at dun siya tatalon."
"Hindi lang yun," dugtong ni Toni Rose, "... nobody committed suicide na may yosi," na natawa na rin sa sinabi.
GRIEF AND ACCEPTANCE. Ang mga ganitong ispekulasyon at alegasyon ay inaasahan na raw nila.
"Ang anak ko, tahimik na. He's already with the Lord," sabi ni Toni Rose. "And kami naman, we have already accepted na wala na siya sa amin. Of course, nand'yan yung grieving period din namin.
"But then, may acceptance na rin kami. We have peace in our heart that he's in a better place and much happier now. So, kung anuman yung mga haka-haka. Kung feeling nila, e, ganun, let it. But kami, we know kung ano ang katotohanan," pahayag pa Toni Rose.
FAMILIAR ROUTINES. Sinabi ni Butch na sa lahat sa kanila, worried siya the most for Toni Rose bilang inang mangungulila.
Sagot naman ni Toni Rose, "Mas malakas yung iyak ko kanina, kasi normally 'yan, paggising ko ng umaga, nagko-computer na 'yan, nakikita ko sa labas. 'Tapos alam ko, kapag nagluluto na 'ko, tatanungin niya, 'Mom, what's cooking?' Tatanungin niya, tapos yayakap na 'yan sa akin.
"Paggising ko kanina, wala nang ganun... kaya parang dun ako medyo bumigay. Pero alam ko, hindi pa yun ang talagang bigay, e."
Kuwento pa ni Toni Rose sa mga traits ng anak na ngayon ay mami-miss na niya.
"Basta 'yan, kapag nakita 'ko, 'Mom,' hug. Gaganyan na 'yan. Iha-hug na 'ko n'yan. At saka, 'yan ang number one fan ko sa luto. At saka ngayon, naisip ko, baka kung ako na ang unang kinuha ni Lord, baka hindi niya makayanan."
Paano sila magko-cope after this?
"God will give us strength," sabi ni Rosa Rosal.
"Siguro I'm functioning on grace," sabi naman ni Toni. "I'm running on autopilot. God's autopilot."
Sa huli, sabi ni Toni, "Nagpapasalamat po ako sa lahat ng nang-text, tumawag, dumalaw dito, nag-show ng support sa amin... sa pamilya namin. Maraming salamat sa inyo. Sabi nga ng mommy ko kagabi, sa times na ganito, dun mo makikita ang mga totoo mong kaibigan.
"At na-realize ko, napakayaman pala namin sa mga bagay na hindi mo mabibili ng pera. At 'yan ang mga tunay na kaibigan."
Ang sabi ng naulilang lola: "The Lord gave James to us for 27 years. And even John was talking about that last night and he said, 'Thank you, Lord, You gave me my brother for 27 years. At ako rin, I thank God, I thank God."
