"In emphatic tones, transported by the personal drama of the two grandmothers, 'Lola' illustrates the way life functions in Manila: the police, the courtrooms, the prisons, etc. What is a human life worth in the 21st century? Money in an envelope, handed over in a restaurant."

This honor gives Lola a chance to be screened at the annual International Film-Club Festival at Reggio di Calabria in Italy.

These six awards come on the heels of Direk Dante's latest triumph in the 27th Miami International Film Festival where Lola bagged the Grand Jury Prize.

On March 26, Direk Dante will return to Hong Kong where he will serve as a jury member in Hong Kong IFF.

The film Lola is also invited to the Showcase (not in competition category) of the 9th Tribeca Film Festival in New York. It is the only Filipino film included in this year's festival, which will run from April 21-May 2.

According to Direk Dante, his next project is a documentary on climate change. He was also tapped by the ABS-CBN Foundation to shoot an infomercial in support of its Kapit Bisig sa Ilog Pasig project. Coco Martin, Zaijian Jaranilla, Matanglawin host Kim Atienza, and CNN Hero of the Year Efren Peñaflorida will lend their star power for this advocacy.

The Filipino director also has plans to shoot an action drama set in the Philippines.
