A day after the May 10 elections, Filipinos lined up and waited for hours not to vote but to watch the riotous comedy film Here Comes the Bride. Produced by Star Cinema, OctoArts and Quantum Films, this Chris Martinez film has been graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board.
Fans stood outside Cinema 10 of SM Megamall as they waited for their chance to catch a glimpse of lead stars Angelica Panganiban and Eugene Domingo. Little did they know that they would also get to see Piolo Pascual in person as the matinee idol graced the occasion to show support for Eugene Domingo. Last year, Piolo and other members of Spring Films financed Uge's launching film Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kiyeme.
Inside the cinema, director Joyce Bernal was seated beside Piolo and when they were asked to pose for photographers, Piolo immediately put his arm around the director who helmed Kimmy Dora.
ABS-CBN stars Carmen Soo, Maricar Reyes, and Diether Ocampo were also seated together as they watched the movie that night. Angelica's boyfriend, Derek Ramsay, watched the movie but he did not attend the cast party held later that night at the Chefs' Quarter restaurant in SM Megamall.
Here Comes the Bride is a comedy that involves souls being switched when a total solar eclipse occurs. The souls of the main characters—portrayed by Angelica, Eugene, John "Sweet" Lapus, Jaime Fabregas, and Tuesday Vargas—get jumbled up and are trapped until they figure out a way to return to their respective bodies.
In the midst of all these, Pinoy Big Brother Double Up ex-housemate Tom Rodriguez plays Harold, the fiancé who has to deal with the fact that the soul of his loved one is trapped in the body of a much-older woman (portrayed by Eugene). Completing the cast are Kai Cortez and Ayen Munji-Laurel.
Angelica's co-stars in Banana Split, Pooh and Jayson Gainza were also there to give support for her latest movie. Tom's former housemates in PBB, Rica Paras and Princess Manzon, also made it a point to watch the big screen debut of the Romantic Stud ng Samar.
Other Kapamilya stars who were present that night were Robi Domingo and Janus del Prado. Guji Lorenzana and Kaye Abad also attended the event together.
Before Here Comes the Bride was screened, moviegoers were able to watch the trailer of the upcoming Star Cinema film I'll Be There. The trailer showed KC Concepcion portraying a young woman who is resentful of her father (played by Gabby Concepcion) because he left them when she was still young. Jericho Rosales is the love interest of KC in the movie.
DEREK SPILLS VACATION PLANS. PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to ask for Derek Ramsay's opinion on his girlfriend's performance and he pointed out, "She was great! She showed another side of her versatility as an actress. My abs hurt from laughing so much. All of them, lahat sila magagaling."
What did he think of the kissing scenes of Angelica with her leading man Tom Rodriguez?
"It was done properly. Magiging mag-asawa sila dun, e, kaya kailangan talaga may sweet moments sila dun" he replied.
Derek was supposed to play the fiancé of Angelica's character. However, the producers decided to tap newcomer Tom Rodriguez to portray the leading man of Angelica.
Derek also mentioned that he and Angelica will be in South Africa on June 6 until June 30 to watch the FIFA World Cup. He enumerated the adrenaline-pumping activities that they plan to do while on vacation: "We're gonna go skydiving then swimming with great white sharks and go on a safari."
BIG SCREEN DEBUT. When Tom Rodriguez lived in the United States, he was able to finish a course on Digital Animation and even worked as an illustrator for some time. However, his fate led him to PBB Double Up, which paved the way for him to star in Precious Hearts Romances Presents Love Me Again and the movie Here Comes The Bride.
