After just a few weeks of being one of the The Buzz hosts, KC gets another chance to show off her skill in that field with ABS-CBN's newest morning talk show called Simply KC, which will premiere on Monday, May 24.
As in the beginning of her past projects, there are people who doubt if the 25-year-old daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta already deserves her own talk show when she has just started hosting the weekend showbiz talk show.
To answer this, KC laid out her past experiences in hosting during the media junket prepared for her by ABS-CBN yesterday, May 21, at the 9501 Restaurant at the ABS-CBN compound in Quezon City.
She related, "I started hosting po as an MTV VJ for two years when I was a teenager. Siguro, because it's not mainstream, hindi po nila napanood. Pero medyo matagal na rin po akong nagwo-work sa hosting.
"Medyo maaga po ako [nagsimula] sa hosting. Ang nagkaiba lang po siguro 'yong studio setup ng ABS-CBN, talagang malaking network, talagang will reach kahit globally. So, if there's anything siguro, 'yong gawin lang ng daily basis, Monday to Friday. Kasi, I hosted six shows with MTV, two episodes per show a day. Of course, I also did KC: From Paris To Pinas also. So, baka lang po hindi sila nakakanood ng shows ko kasi hindi sila 'yong talagang masasabi ninyong local TV talaga."
Instead of being defensive, KC said, "Just watch the show. Just watch. You know, if you worry about yourself about, 'Can she? Can she?' I mean, di ba, parang manood na lang kayo. Enjoy niyo na lang kung ano ang puwedeng i-enjoy sa show."
Despite her work experience, KC believes that she still has a lot to learn.
"Hindi ko naman masasabi na I know everything because I don't," she said. "Kasi, all the actors, even the veteran actors, would say that every process is a learning process. So, I'd rather think that I'm not good enough at something or the best of something para at least I can just keep on improving and improving."
KC said she would do her best to entertain the public on Simply KC. She added, "For me, you know, it's really all that day-by-day—my work for the day, my work for tomorrow, my work for the day after. Later on, I hope years from now, when they look back, they will just appreciate all the hard work we all put into each and every project."
And for those who will still doubt her abilities, KC said, "I think it's great that nakita niyo ako from birth. Kumbaga, kilalang-kilala ninyo kung saan ako nanggaling. Ito na po, ito na po ako. I hope you accept me for who I am."
MEGASTAR'S REACTION. One of the persons happy about KC's newest show is, of course, her Mommy Sharon, who also has her self-titled program every Sunday night.
"She was very excited!" described KC. "Actually before, siya pa ang nagsasabi na, 'Sana magkaroon ka ng morning show, 'no? Maganda sana 'yon, di ba?' When The Buzz came, [she said], 'Morning show na lang kaya?' Sabi ko, 'Paano itong in-offer ng ABS-CBN?' Hanggang sa umoo na lang siya sa The Buzz. Nangyari din po 'yong morning show after over a month."
Before Simply KC airs on Monday, the TV viewers will get to see the singer-actress temporarily taking the place of her mother on Sharon because the latter is still in the U.S.
SHIFTING TO A DIFFERENT CAREER? Although KC's recent projects require her hosting skill, this does not mean she's leaving singing and acting to focus on this job.
"In this day and age, it all works together," she said. "I did really see—doing the promotion of my album, doing the shooting of my movie, at the same time, the hosting—it's all working together actually. Like, with my music, we were able to use one of the songs I wrote for the theme song of the show. I got to promote the show through the promotion of my album because of that song 'Magandang Umaga.'"
