Bukod sa mga artistang dumalo na kasama sa special issue na YES! 100 Most Beautiful Stars 2010 na pinangunahan ni Kim Chiu, isa sa mga naging paboritong kapanayamin ng mga press people sa launch nito na ginanap sa Crowne Plaza sa may Quezon City last June 22 ay ang editor-in-chief ng YES! na si Ms. Jo-Ann Maglipon.

"Ito yung categories, 'yan ang crucial. Kasi taun-taon nagbabago 'yan at 'yan din ang nagde-determine kung sino ang kasali. So, kung kasali ka dun, e, di okay lang. Well, si Kim Chiu is our most beautiful star. This is an original shoot," pahayag ni Ms. Jo-Ann habang hawak ang isang kopya ng YES! 100 Most Beautiful Stars 2010.
THE COVER GIRL. In the past three editions of YES! 100 Most Beautiful Stars ay naging cover girls sina Judy Ann Santos (2007), KC Concepcion (2008), at Marian Rivera (2009). This year, bakit si Kim Chiu ang napili nilang maging cover?
"Kasi we wanted somebody refreshing. We wanted somebody who is gazed at and talked about and hot, and at the same time beautiful. And you know, my personal take on her is, she's a nice representative of showbiz. It's nice to have her in showbiz to let people see good behavior and nice manners. Good role model siya. I hope she keeps it that way," sabi ni Ms. Jo-Ann tungkol kay Kim.
Mahirap bang mamili ng cover girl?
"Yes, pag cover, mahirap," sagot ng YES! editor-in-chief. "Merong mga katunggali rin si Kim Chiu sa cover. Pero sa 100 Most [Beautiful], siguro naman may karapatan na ang YES! na pumili ng isang daan na maganda. Ang lagi ko namang sinasabi, basta kung may tiwala ang tao na yung YES! hindi naman namimili na base sa kinaiinisan o kinagigiliwan. Walang favoritism. It's there, e, it's there because many of these faces I have not met personally, the new faces, the young ones, I have not met personally. But the staff put their names in and I trust the staff because the staff is on the field."
Sino ang naging mahigpit na katunggali ni Kim Chiu as cover girl?
"Sarah Geronimo is the tighest," pag-amin ni Ms. Jo-Ann.
Pero tumanggi nang magdetalye si Ms. Jo-Ann nang tanungin namin kung ano ang naging edge ni Kim over Sarah. Basta masaya raw sila sa naging desisyon ng buong staff.
Is it a ruling na hindi mag-ulit ng cover girl?
"Cover girl, yes. Ayaw mo naman ng paulit-ulit kasi wala na bang maganda sa showbiz? Yung sa cover. Pero dito sa list, kahit ayaw mo ng the usual suspect, nauulit din paminsan-minsan. Pero may mga nagtatanong nga kung bakit wala yung the usual glam girls, they're not here now. I think maybe we didn't have that category."
CHOOSING THE LIST. Paano nila pinili ang mga kasama sa listahan? Nag-survey ba sila?
"No, hindi kami nag-survey. It's the YES! team," sabi ni Ms. Jo-Ann. "I have to say that beauty in the entertainment [industry] is not an exact science, it's a matter of taste, individual and collective. I'd like to think that this is the representation of the collective taste of YES! magazine. And like I said, I just want people to remember that when YES! puts out a list, whether the most beautiful or the 20 who ruled the decades, who are the most powerful in the country, we try to choose as fairly as possible. We justify our actions even to ourselves. In our discussions, we know what we're doing. Hindi kami yung nahuli mo na nag-trip lang. We're not like that, e."
Sinadya ba nila na hindi gawing ranking ang listahan at sa halip ay gawan na lang ng categories ang mga artista?
"Yes," sagot ni Ms. Jo-Ann. "Because when you think about it, beauty has a lot to do with the physical in this country, so how do you rank that kind of thing? It's very difficult. It's different when you have statistics to go with it, like box-office take, et cetera. When the stats are used as a basis, it's much easier to rank or when you have testimonies from many people in the know. But this one, it's a matter of taste. Kaya may categories na kumbaga sa pelikula, classification."
Kung mabibigyan siya ng power na pumili ng isang artista na idadagdag sa listahan para maging pang-101 ito, sino ang pipiliin niya?
"Ako, personally, si Joey de Leon. I think Vic [Sotto] and Sharon [Cuneta] are the ones who are here [in this year's issue]. We only chose two kasi for that category [Pure Charisma]."
OTHER CONCERNS. Paano kung may mga mag-disagree at magreklamo sa ginawa nilang listahan, ano ang sasabihin niya sa mga ito?
"Honestly, I don't think of kung sino ang magagalit or kung sino ang matutuwa. I hope lahat matuwa, pero labas na ako doon kung hindi nila type kasi this is the most honest thing we can offer. Meron na ring nagtanong sa akin kung may magrereklamo dahil wala yung anak nila, yung kapatid nila, yung alaga nila. Hindi ko pa napag-isipan kung ano ang isasagot ko kasi yung mga ganyang klaseng tanong, hindi sumagi sa isipan namin nung nagde-deliberate kami. Parang should that be a consideration? If you are afraid to move on anything you believe in because somebody is going to hit you, I mean where is your freedom?" saad ni Ms. Jo-Ann.
Patas ba ang mga Kapamilya at Kapuso sa listahang ito?
"I'm so proud to say that when the team chose, we did not bother with who was the manager and which was the network. Actually, it doesn't matter to us. Except that of course, when you finish the listing, you realized that there are more of these, less of that. But it's incidental to what we wanted to do. It doesn't matter which network."
Kailan kaya sila magkakaroon ng cover na lalake?
"Sa totoo lang, from my instincts, the fans want to see a female on the most beautiful. Pag lalake siguro dapat diyan the studs of the year," sagot ni Ms. Jo-Ann.
Bakit kailangang bilhin ng mga tao ang YES! 100 Most Beautiful Stars 2010 issue?
"I think they should buy because we really did the trouble to get a schedule from these very busy stars in order to give you new photographs of your favorites. We hope you agree with our choices. I hope you get this YES! special edition because it comes out once a year lang," sabi ng editor-in-chief ng No. 1 entertainment magazine sa bansa.
