Dingdong says if he's offered a government post, he won't turn it down, but he adds: "Ang isang bagay na hindi naiintindihan ng lahat, e, when you say public service, it is not a career. Every one should practice public service just like their second job. That's why I admire people who let go of their real profession and even sometimes neglect their families just to serve in public because this is a very taxing and important duty na hindi lang sa grupo ng isang tao kung hindi sa buong bansa."

Ikaapat na primetime series na nina Dingdong Dantes at Marian Rivera ang Endless Love, ang GMA-7 soap opera na uumpisahan nang ipalabas sa Lunes, June 28. Bago nito, nagtambal sila sa Marimar, Dyesebel at Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang, na pawang naging successful.
Sa tingin ba ni Dingdong, mas naging malalim ang pag-arte ni Marian sa latest nilang series? Mabilis ang tugon niyang, "Oo naman."
Sabi pa niya, "Yung drama, mas maning-mani na sa kanya yun. Pero, mas ko pa siyang na-appreciate sa comedy. Minsan nagugulat na lang ako na ganoon siya. Siyempre, iba ang acting. Iba ang real life."
In real life, comedy rin ba ang girlfriend niya?
"Oo naman, oo naman," nakangiti niyang sabi. "Pero siyempre, iba ang off-cam."
SERIOUS MATTER. May mga nakapansin sa presscon na tila naging seryoso si Dingdong sa pagsagot sa tanong tungkol sa kasal. Was it out of protectiveness sa relationship nila or dahil ayaw niyang ma-preempt kung sakali man?
"Oo, serious palagi naman, e," sabi ni Dingdong. "Iba rin ang atmosphere kanina. Kapag presscon naman ng one-on-one, puwede kong biruin. Pero siyempre, kung bibiruin man, it's something very serious nga. So, kahit ako, hindi ko siya bibiruin. Seryoso ako sa bagay na yun and ako, it's something that I really look forward to sa buhay ng isang tao and I really put value into it.
"Kumbaga, e, ayoko lang din pangunahan ang mga bagay-bagay."
Diretsuhan naming tinanong si Dingdong kung nakikita na ba niya ang sarili sa estadong iyon.
"Kung nakikita, madaling makita, e. Pero, siguro kung ano na lang ang gustong i-achieve bago gawin yun, e marami pa, marami pa. Pero hindi naman ibig sabihin na hindi pa nakikita."
Well-aware daw si Dingdong na sa showbiz relationships, after na na-build up ito, puwede pa ring mauwi sa paghihiwalay.
"Yes, I've seen it many times. Maaaring hindi sa akin, maaaring sa iba or maaaring sa akin din. It's how you handle it. Ako, I believe naman like in our case, especially the believers, the fans, the GMA production, they played a very big role in putting us together as a tandem. Pero, bukod sa pagiging tandem, malaking bagay rin ang tandem na yun kaya kami naging maayos sa aming mga personal na buhay. So we will never discount that.
"At para sa amin, we give value to that. At siguro, ang isang bagay lang din na pupuwedeng ibalik, to be fair, is for us to be honest whenever na may kailangan silang malaman."
"I DON'T SEE ANY END." Gaano nga ba niya kamahal si Marian?
"Siguro kung sa may itataas, oo. Kailangan siyang tumaas araw-araw. At siguro, if there's one thing na proud ako, magmula noong umpisa, since day one, e, constant naman yung pagtaas ng level ng pagmamahal ko sa kanya.
"I don't see any peak, I don't see any end to it. Basta siguro what is constant is a very good slope."
Naniniwala ba siya na may endless love?
"Oo... meron yun, meron. It's endless because it transfers to other people."
Kasama si Dingdong sa "A List" ng YES! 100 Most Beautiful Stars kunsaan si Kim Chiu ang naging cover. How does he feel about it?
"Very thankful sa YES! for the trust. I'm sure they categorized it very well. Pinag-isipan and you know, siguro yung level of trust nila sa amin, e gano'n. Salamat din dahil kami naman, hindi naman din kami nagkukulang sa pagbibigay sa kanila ng information about how we are as celebrities and individuals in our own private lives. So, open din kami diyan, so, maganda rin ang tandem."
