Maraming tinatapos na projects si Richard Gutierrez ngayon dahil malapit na siyang umalis para maging host ng Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Showdown. Kabilang sa tinatapos niya ay ang pelikulang In Your Eyes kasama sina Claudine Barretto at Anne Curtis.
"We're finishing the movie now. We have two days left before I leave for Survivor. I'm finishing everything before I leave. Medyo hectic ang schedule natin ngayon," pahayag ni Richard nang ma-interview siya ng entertainment press sa grand opening ng Beauty & Butter one-stop-shop sa 5th Level SM Megamall last Monday, June 28, kung saan siya naging special guest.
Handang-handa na ba siya for the reality show of GMA-7?
"Yes, oo, naka-mindset na ako. I can say na I'm ready to go. I'm really focused and nakahanda na rin yung survival gear ko," sabi ng 26-year-old actor.
Ano ang mga inihanda niyang gagamitin?
"Of course, inihanda ko yung survival gear. And nag-prepare ako ng back-up, you know, just in case, emergency stuff, ganun, basic necessities. Mahirap na kung ano mangyari, dapat handa ka. First aid kit, flashlight, ganun."
Lagi rin daw nakikipag-meeting si Richard sa GMA-7, patunay lang na excited siya sa bagong hosting experience na ito.
"Oo, it's going to be my first time to host a reality show this big. And talagang it's an honor for me to be hosting Survivor Philippines. So, I will give my best to have a great, great show."
Alam na rin daw ni Richard ang lineup ng celebrities na kasama niyang mananatili sa isang isla for 39 days.
"Alam ko na yung mga kasali sa Survivor, alam ko na yung mga castaways. Kasi a few weeks back, tinanong ako kung gusto kong malaman kung sinu-sino. Sabi ko, huwag muna kasi hindi pa ako naka-mindset. Pero ngayong naka-mindset na ako, alam ko na kung sino yung castaways. Very exciting lineup, maganda yung mix ng people. It's going to be very, very interesting," banggit niya.
Meron bang castaway na close sa kanya?
"Nung makita ko yung lineup, nakita ko merong nakatrabaho ko na. May mga castaways din na kaibigan ko. Pero number one rule din kasi sa Survivor bilang host, hindi ako puwedeng makipagkuwentuhan sa kanila, hindi ko sila puwedeng kausapin. We're very strict, and I will play my role. Wala namang personalan iyan, e. Kung seryoso ako sa island, hindi nila ako puwedeng kausapin. Ganun talaga. Pero pagkatapos ng Survivor, puwede ulit kaming magkuwentuhan," saad ni Richard.
JEWEL MISCHE. Sa more than a month niyang mawawala sa Pilipinas, sino ang mami-miss niya sa kanyang pag-alis?
"Maraming makaka-miss sa akin," biro ni Richard. "Alam mo kasi honestly, hindi ko pa alam, e. Ang mindset ko kasi nasa isla, e. Iniisip ko muna yung kailangan kong gawin. Kumbaga, napakabigat ng responsibility ko as a host, taking care of Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Showdown, na ang mindset ko nasa isla. Pagdating ko dun, at saka ko maiisip kung sino yung mga taong mami-miss ko. Pero, of course, you know, we're only human. Kaya marami tayong mami-miss."
Siyempre kasama sa mami-miss niya ang taong nagbibigay sa kanya ng inspirasyon ngayon—na alam naman ng halos lahat ay walang iba kundi ang StarStruck 4 winner na si Jewel Mische. Nagpaalaman na ba sila?
"Well, of course, lahat naman ng tao... kumbaga alam naman ng lahat ng tao na celebrity ako. Siyempre kung sino man siya, alam niya na trabaho, kailangang gawin ko ito dahil trabaho. At pangarap ko rin ito, e. Pangarap kong maging part ng Survivor Philippines. So, wala munang emotions. Kumbaga, I have to stay focused," sagot ni Richard.
So, iisantabi muna niya ang lovelife?
"Hindi naman sa iisantabi. Siyempre for one month and a half, I have to stay focused. Kumbaga, hindi siya magiging madali. Naka-mindset na talaga ako. And nothing really matters now except yung sa island. Kasi malapit na akong umalis, e."
