A simple apology paved the way for Mamarazzi, the upcoming movie of Eugene Domingo under Regal Films.
In October 2008, Eugene Domingo had a falling out with Mother Lily Monteverde, the matriarch of the 50-year-old film outfit. As a result, the comedienne was pulled out from two films—Shake, Rattle and Roll X and Desperadas 2. (CLICK HERE to read related article.)
But it's all water under the bridge now since the actress made the first move to patch things up with the film executive in September 2009. The reconciliation was inevitable for Uge (Eugene's nickname) who credits Regal for her very first appearance on the big screen.
This 2010, Uge is set to topbill Mamarazzi, the movie that will launch the golden anniversary celebration of Regal.
"Kung hindi ako humingi ng pasensiya [kay Mother Lily], hindi mangyayari itong Mamarazzi, at hindi ako mabibigyan ng ganitong kalaking chance to be a part of the 50th anniversary [of Regal]. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank Mother Lily for making me a part of this big celebration.
Parang LVN o Sampaguita Pictures. Sana tumagal pa ang Regal Films for another 50 years," she said.
Mamarazzi will open in cinemas starting August 25. It's directed by Joel Lamangan, and also stars Diether Ocampo, John "Sweet" Lapus, Andi Eigenmann, Xian Lim, Carl Guevara, AJ Perez, JC Tiuseco, and Ahron Villaflor.
MISCOMMUNICATION RESOLVED. For the longest time, Mother and Uge never detailed the cause of their rift. But during the presscon, the comedienne opened up a bit, and said it was due to "miscommunication."
"There was a miscommunication, hindi na natin dedetalyehin," Uge said.
"One day sa isang presscon, Manay Ethel [Ramos, columnist-talent manager] talked to me.
After pondering this piece of advice, she set off her plan to personally apologize to Mother.
I have caused some delays."
And she's very grateful that Mother Lily aceepted her apology.
I think Mamarazzi is the right project at the right time because Mother Lily was motherly enough to accept my apologies if there were some delays that I have caused.
Uge also took the opportunity to thank the person who encouraged her to approach the lady boss of Regal.
So thank you, Manay Ethel, for that beautiful advice. It really helped me para mabuo ang pagkatao ko."
