Toni Gonzaga says she has never mentioned details shared with her by fellow celebrities on the entertainment shows she's hosting.
The ABS-CBN's multi-media star said that even when she hosted Entertainment Live!, she never spilled any of the secrets her colleagues shared with her. She also said she has chosen to continue respecting their secrets when she transferred to the weekly showbiz talk show The Buzz.
"Wala naman akong sinasabing makakasira at makakasama sa kapwa ko," said Toni, who was introduced as The Buzz's new host along with Charlene Gonzalez a few weeks ago.
The 26-year-old TV and movie personality also said that whatever she says on television is based on her own opinion and she doesn't relate it to the celebrities involved in the issue.
Toni explained, "Kung anuman ang ibinibigay kong opinyon, 'yon ay bilang host ng programa. Pero alam ko naman po kung hanggang saan ang limitasyon ko.
"Ever since naman sa E Live!, ganun na ako, e. Naha-hype n'yo lang ngayon kasi nasa The Buzz na ako. Dati hindi n'yo ako pinapansin sa E Live! Kasi, sa E Live! naggaganun na ako, hindi n'yo lang napapansin. I remember 'yong ibang artista [sinasabi], 'Hoy, sinabi mo sa E Live!' Sabi ko, 'Oo.' Okay naman. Ngayon, wala, ganun pa rin."
She also stressed that her moving to a more popular weekend talk show does not mean that she would be more biased towards her close friends in showbiz.
"Hindi naman mawawala 'yan," she said, "lalo na ngayon na marami nang sensitibo. Kapag nag-The Buzz ka na, medyo marami na ang titingin sa 'yo, kaya konting sasabihin mo, gagawan ng intriga, gagawan ng kulay."
WON'T BE AFFECTED BY INTRIGUES. Since Toni is now identified as a showbiz talk show host, she has prepared herself to be tough in case intrigues start coming her way.
"Sanay naman na tayo kasi medyo marami-rami na rin naman ang na-encounter natin na intriga. Marami na rin naman akong narinig na masasakit na salita, so medyo makapal-kapal na rin 'yong balat natin sa ganyan. At saka siguro, hinanda ko na rin ang sarili ko na mas medyo maiintriga lang tayo ng konti dahil nga nasa intriga show na tayo.
"Handa naman na ako. It's just a matter of how you handle yourself and how you handle the issues thrown at you. Right now, sinasabi nila na if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen... I'll never go out of the kitchen. I'll stay at the kitchen!" she said with a laugh.
NOT A BETTER HOST. Although Toni has more experience in hosting a showbiz talk show, the singer-actress does not want people to think that she's a better host than Charlene or even KC Concepcion, who is relatively new to the show.
"Huwag kayong gumawa ng ganung isyu kasi napakabait ni Ate Charlene at saka napakabait ni KC sa akin," she requested the media. "Bihira 'yon sa industriya na makahanap ka ng katrabaho na marunong mag-value ng pagkakaibigan na mayroon kayo. So, I'm really honored na ang makatrabaho si Ms. Charlene at lalo na si KC dahil mga dati ko lang sila napapanood."
Right now, Toni wishes she can build a good relationship with Charlene and KC.
"I'm sure darating tayo sa point na 'yan," she said. "What's good with Ate Charlene and KC, ang dali-daling mag-open up sa kanila kasi napaka-warm talaga nila at kitang-kita ko ang sinseridad nila. So, gusto kong i-value 'yon at gusto kong i-keep 'yong trust and friendship na nabubuo sa amin ngayon dahil napakabait nilang tao talaga. Isang privilege sa akin na makasama sila sa isang programa."
