"When you're 40 already, ayaw mo nang mag-aksaya ng panahon. Gusto mo nang gawin yung gusto mo lang gawin because siyempre, you're not young anymore. You don't spend time doing things that don't make you happy anymore," says Monique Wilson , who's celebrating her 30th year as an actress whose career has spanned theater, television, and movies.

Kuwento niya, "Some of them are even older than me. It's very pressurized. Nag-spend sila ng ganun karaming money just to train."

Monique trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) and took her MA in Applied Theater and Drama Education at Central School of Speech and Drama, also in London.

NO DISCRIMINATION.

"Wala. I mean, even this job that was offered to me, imagine na ako lang ang Asian sa aming faculty. Ako yung pinakabata. Even my students are older than me. Pero may nakita sila sa akin at sinasabi nila parati na 'you're the best person for this job.' That was really good kasi alam mo na na-recognize nila yung experience mo."

Dagdag niya, "I'm always excited din kapag may mga Asian students din ako siyempre, at kaunti lang ang Asian students like from Japan or Malaysia or Thailand. I always tell them na, 'You should be proud of who you are. We don't want to be British. That's not who we are. And that what makes you interesting abroad.

Itatanghal ni Monique at ng New Voice Company on September 3 and 4 ang dulang My Name is Rachel Corrie sa Music Museum.
