"My work behind the scenes, magiging intense 'yan next year. Sa ngayon, the network wants me to focus on being an anchor, on being a journalist, earn my stripe, earn a couple of feathers on my cap and after that, then I can do that aspect [programming executive] naman. Kasi alam nilang mahihirapan ako to focus on being an anchor, plus being a journalist, then may desk job pa ako," said Paolo Bediones on his growing role inside the TV5 organization.

"Ang mangyayari is, this year, focus ako dito sa trabaho ko bilang anchor, bilang journalist, and then slowly getting my feet wet. And then next year, 'yon na. By then, alam ko na dapat ang trabaho ko. So, ito, studying and getting to know the environment, ano ba talaga ang dapat pag-aralan.

"Then, darating na talaga 'yong panahon na I'll be handling shows, na I'll have five or six shows under me. But now naman, ang role ko is like parang informal consultant in a lot of programs. The producers ask for my advice like 'yong hosting ng mga talents nila and sometimes I train them or sometimes 'yong production value, 'yon."

Dagdag pa ni Paolo, "We're finding ways to augment the news and make it meatier as opposed to just the aesthetics.

DISCOVERING NEW TALENTS.

"You have to, e. Because if you look at both networks, the way that things are going, they are building their own pool.

But definitely now, mahirap. A lot of them have been tied down with mga contracts and non-compete clauses. A lot has changed and it is good for the industry dahil naaalagaan 'yong mga dapat alagaan.

MAKING THE RIGHT DECISION.

Extra! (1999), Extra Lifestyle (2001), Extra Showbiz (2002), Extra Challenge (2003), S Files (2005), Pinoy Meets World (2006), Whammy! Push Your Luck (2007), Survivor Philippines Season 1 (2008), at Survivor Philippines Season 2 (2009).

December 3, 2009 nang ianunsyo ni Paolo ang pagpirma niya ng three-year contract with TV5.

"Sometimes nga when you go to work, minsan hindi ka makapaniwala na ito na 'yon, and to think a few months ago, kasi December lang ako lumipat, 'andun 'yong kaba. 'Andun 'yong you're wishing you made the right decision. The first few months, ang hirap sa akin kasi siyempre they were focused on so many things. Then slowly, when you get into the groove na, you realize eto na 'yon," sabi ni Paolo.

Dagdag niya, "Basta ang goal natin is to improve even more. Stationwise, it has improved already throughout the years. Both the major networks really worked hard on making quality programs. So, kami naman, we want to up the ante as well. Hindi kami 'yong, 'Sali rin kami!' Before siguro ganun, pero ngayon hindi na."
