"Actually makapasok pa lang ako sa Top 10, masaya na ako. Especially ako, baguhan pa lang na artista, yung mga kalaban kong candidates, as in past Candy Cuties na or many years na in the show business," says Enzo Pineda (main photo). GMA-7 young actor Enzo Pineda has stopped the four-year winning streak of Sam Concepcion as the Top Celebrity Candy Cutie. The StarStruck V alumnus was able to beat Sam, who landed on second place this year. Sam held the title since 2006.

Enzo is named the Celebrity Candy Cutie of 2010 for getting the highest combined text and online votes from the voting conducted by Candy magazine from July to August this year.

The 20-year-old Kapuso talent told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that he did not expect to be the overall winner in the celebrity category. Enzo feels privileged to be ranked among the young actors who have been in the industry for many years now.

"Happy ako na andito ako sa Candy Cuties... Hindi ko talaga ine-expect," said Enzo in an interview during the Candy Fair held at the A. Venue in Makati last Saturday, October 2.

"Actually, makapasok pa lang ako sa Top 10, masaya na ako. Especially ako, baguhan pa lang na artista, yung mga kalaban kong candidates, as in past Candy Cuties na or many years na in show business."

How does he feel that he was able to beat Sam who has been the top Candy Cutie for four consecutive years?

"There's no competition naman," Enzo said. "I have much respect for Sam. Lahat kami panalo. So I'm happy.

"Siguro yung mga fans ko, yung mga audience ko, todo-boto sila sa akin this year kasi siguro first time ko. So, excited lahat."

Aside from Enzo and Sam, the other top Candy Cuties in the celebrity category are: (in descending order) Star Magic talent AJ Perez, PBB Teen Clash of 2010 runner-up Bret Jackson, PBB Teen Clash of 2010 winner James Reid, Gigger Boys member Robi Domingo, former Gimik 2010 star Albie Casiño, Magkaribal star Enchong Dee, PBB Teen Clash of 2010 runner-up Ivan Dorschner, and rapper-actor Elmo Magalona.

All of them are featured in the October issue of Candy magazine, which celebrates its 11th year this 2010.

ON HIS CAREER. Just a few months after being proclaimed the First Prince of StarStruck V, Enzo is cast as one of the mainstays of GMA-7's Kaya ng Powers. The newbie actor says he enjoys working on the sitcom because of the close bond that he shares with his co-stars.

"Kami, parang family na kami," he said. "Habang tumatagal pa, mas dumadami yung episodes, mas gumaganda kasi mas nagkakaroon kami ng chemistry."

When asked about Rhian Ramos, his love-team partner on the show, he said he admires her for her caring attitude towards their other co-stars.

But among all the actresses of GMA-7, he still considers his StarStruck batchmate and Ultimate Female Survivor Sarah Lahbati as the closest to his heart.

Enzo has been vocal regarding his admiration for Sarah even when they were still part of the reality-based artista search. He has admitted that he plans to court Sarah but it won't be any time soon.

"Manliligaw ako kay Sarah... Hindi naman kami nagmamadali. What we are now, kung ano meron sa amin ngayon, may understanding kami, at masaya kami sa career namin, sa ginagawa namin."

He feels overwhelmed by the support his fans have given him even though he's still new in this industry.

"I feel so blessed na, since StarStruck nandito sila para sa akin. Tuluy-tuloy yung suporta nila para sa akin. So, sila ang reason kung bakit umaangat ang career ko. Thank you so much!"
