Elmo Magalona dreams to play the role of a father. The young rapper said this during an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the Candy Fair last Saturday, October 2, at the A.Venue Hall in Makati City.

"Gusto ko father [role] kasi kakaiba siya, di ba? Yung iba, gusto drug addict or baliw or pipi...like that. Ako siguro, father, yung kakaiba para sa akin. 'Tsaka challenging yun for me, to act as a father," explained Elmo.

The 16-year-old rapper-actor appears regularly in the GMA-7 sitcom Kaya ng Powers, where he plays the youngest brother of Rhian Ramos and Sheena Halili, and in the Sunday musical-variety show Party Pilipinas.

Elmo said that right now he plans to focus on his acting career and would want to try out heavy drama.

LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON. Although he enjoys acting and singing, he would like to follow the path his father, the late Francis Magalona, when he grows older.

"Nung tumanda siya, mas marami siyang naging experience for his inspiration. So, yun, mas nag-focus na siya sa singing. Ako din siguro when I get older, if I have a lot of inspiration na, that's when I... ano na, mag- focus na ako sa pagkanta ko," Elmo said.

What does he miss most about his dad?

"He was a friend to us. Sobrang makulit siya. Yun ang nami-miss ko sa kanya, yung kakulitan niya. Parang he gives life to the family," said Elmo.

He has no problem being compared with his dad. "Kasi dun din naman ako kumukuha ng inspiration sa kanya, and ginagaya ko din naman yung ano niya. I'm trying to continue his legacy nga, so kaya din ako nako-compare sa kanya.

"I don't take it naman negatively. Okay nga kasi nga legend siya. If you get compared to a legend...parang it's complimenting."

CANDY CUTIE. Elmo was chosen as one of Candy's Top Ten  Celebrity Boys of the Year where a total of 50,000 readers voted and participated.

As one of the top Candy cuties this year, who does he consider as his Candy girl?

Elmo smiled and gave out a safe answer, "Madami, e."

But after much prodding, he gave three names: "Si Rhian Ramos, Heart Evangelista, and si Julie Ann [San Jose]."
