Maxene Magalona would rather not discuss rating figures and percentage, nor think about the competition in the daily afternoon block.
"It's not actually a question kung sino ang mas mataas ang ratings o kung sino ang mas magaling. But it's a question kung napapasaya ba namin ang tao.
"And dahil nga mataas ang ratings, it just goes to show na natutuwa 'yong mga tao sa show namin and sa lahat ng pinaghirapan namin," said the 23-year-old actress.
PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), along with other entertainment reporters, had the chance to talk to Maxene last night, October 13, at the thanksgiving party of Trudis Liit, held at the 17th floor of GMA Network Center in Quezon City.
The afternoon series, which is topbilled by child star Jillian Ward, will conclude its four-month run on October 22.
Maxene is clueless about whether she will have anither project after Trudis Liit.
"Kung anuman ang ibigay nila sa akin, kung anuman ang next show ko, I'm willing naman to try new things. Unlike before naman kasi, talagang marami akong restrictions and limitations. But now na of age na nga pala talaga ko and marami na kong nagawa, I wanna try new things."
The daughter of the late singer-songwriter Francis Magalona said it doesn't matter whether management retains her in the afternoon slot or moves her to the highly-competitive primetime bracket.
"Kung mapapansin ninyo po, suki ako ng pang-hapon!" laughed Maxene. "Kahit primetime man o pang-hapon, basta mataas ang ratings and napapasaya ko ang mga tao, dun ako masaya."
NO RIFT WITH PAULEEN. When Trudis Liit was launched last June, observers wondered if it was a sound decision to put Maxene and co-star Pauleen Luna together in one show.
The two stars got embroiled in a controversy last summer after it was reported that Maxene and some of her closest friends in showbiz were ganging up on Pauleen by posting unflattering remarks about her on their Twitter accounts.
It was said that Pauleen's closeness with Survivor Philippines grand winner JC Tiuseco earned the ire of Maxene. Although both parties never admitted anything to the media, it was rumored that Maxene and JC became an item at one point.
Maxene's group, which is composed of Angel Locsin, Glaiza de Castro, Bianca King, Bubbles Paraiso, and Rich Asuncion, was dubbed as "Ampalaya Anonymous"—said to be a collective representation of the group's "bitter" attitude stemming from failed relationships.
Maxene said that the matter was resolved even before she and Pauleen started working for Trudis Liit, and that the entire issue was simply blown out of proportion.
"Actually, aaminin ko po sa inyo, before we had that issue, hindi kami ganun ka-close. Friends naman talaga kami ni Pauleen to begin with because of Eat Bulaga!, because of my dad, and nakikita ko siya.
