Kilala siya bilang anak ng Hari ng Pelikulang Pilipino na si Fernando Poe Jr. at ng Queen of Philippine Movies na si Ms. Susan Roces. Ngayon, makikilala na siya bilang bahagi ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Noynoy Aquino.
Meet Mary Grace Poe-Llamanzares, ang bagong pinuno ng Movie and Television Review and Classification Board o MTRCB.
Ano ang reaksyon niya nang nalaman niyang siya ang kapalit ni dating MTRCB Chair Consoliza Laguardia?
"Sa totoo lang, talagang nagulat ako, e. Kasi may tumawag sa akin na news reporter at bini-verify. Imbes na masagot ko siya, siya pa ang tinanong ko, 'Sigurado ka ba? Saan mo nabasa?'
"So siyempre, natuwa ako pero mas lalo din akong napaisip kung ano na ang mga dapat gawin. Dahil napakadaming mga transitional things na dapat na ma-accomplish bago ka maka-assume," sabi ni Ms. Llamanzares sa panayam sa kanya ni Ricky Lo sa Startalk kahapon, October 16.
May mga nag-lobby ba o nagpursige na siya ang maupo sa puwesto?
"Sabihin ko naman... ako'y nagpapasalamat kay Senator Jinggoy [Estrada], isa sa mga nag-endorso sa akin. Kasama na doon ang Directors Guild [of the Philippines], at ang Actors Guild [of the Philippines]."
A mother of three, nag-aral ng Development Studies sa University of the Philippines-Manila si Mary Grace at nagtapos ng Political Science, major in Government and Political Theory sa Boston College sa Amerika.
Ano ang unang-unang gagawin niya as MTRCB chief?
"Nais po namin na maglagay diyan ng mas maraming miyembro na galing talaga sa industriya," sagot niya. "Not just to review, but also to try and figure out how we can help the economy become better.
"So, yung aking layunin ay mapalapit ang MTRCB sa industriya, at lalung-lalo na, ang makatulong sa ating ekonomiya ang industriya ng pelikulang Pilipino at ng telebisyon."
Mula pa noong tumakbo (at hindi pinalad) ang kanyang yumaong ama sa presidential race noong 2004, at pagkamatay nito the same year, marami na ang humihimok kay Mary Grace na pasukin ang mundo ng pulitika.
May balak pa ba siyang pasukin ang pulitika?
"Sana, pero siguro sa 2013 elections. Sa ngayon, hindi ko pa naiisip."

At least we all know she's not one of those people in the government who are liars and corrupt. Let's just pray for the betterment of the industry and of the country and not be too harsh on criticizing people. As what JFK said, Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.

Her personal life has got nothing to do with the duty she has to fulfill. Don't judge her for her roots. So what if she's adopted or not? What matters most is that she grew up to be a decent and educated woman with breeding. Be grateful for you were lucky enough to be born in this world with your biological parents.
Be responsible commenters for once. Don't just post comments which are irrelevant in nature. Better yet, don't comment at all if you're only commenting just for the sake of making/posting one.
It's so foul for people to just judge her for that and for others to think that her being the daughter of showbiz's most influential people is the key to how she got the position. FPJ and Susan Roces, maybe realizing they could not have children of their own, adopted her. Naging mabuti silang magulang kay Mary Grace.
Bakit ngayon parang kasalanan pa ni Mary Grace na inampon siya? From her educational background and the way she has conducted her life, naging mabuti siyang anak at tao.
Pintasan nyo na lang siya kapag palpak siyang chairman ng MTRCB. But it really is unfair na ibato sa kanya ang pinagmulan niya.
