The network war was set aside last night, October 17, at the Endangered Species concert of Pokwang, a.k.a. Pokie, at the Aliw Theater in Pasay City.

Guess who showed up at her concert? None other than Regine Velasquez, a prized singer, host and actress of GMA-7. Pokwang is a prized comedienne and host of ABS-CBN.

Pokwang set up her portion with Regine as a quasi-serious battle of talents—with Pokie and Asia's Songbird taking turns belting out stanzas from Celine Dion's "All By Myself."

Of course, Regine has always been known to reach those high notes without pain, like really serious concert artists do. But Pokwang has never been known as a concert artist, let alone a real singer, yet she was playing this scene as an overconfident diva who was there to put the diva Regine in her place.

When Regine let fly those high notes in the end, she naturally had the crowd applauding and cheering. But more interestingly, the well-known singer gamely played the role of perfect foil to Pokwang—who, wonder of wonders, actually hit all the high notes of "All by Myself"!

Cheers from the crowd followed. And the result was a well-applauded number and a new line for the Pilipinas Win na Win! host: "Si Ms. Regine po ay Songbird, ako po, Songbuk."

The two stars' time together on stage also became a delightful exchange of witticisms. Here's a sampler:

Pokwang: "Si Regine Velasquez? Mahilig kaya 'yon sa mababa. Ogie [Alcasid], di ba? Tingnan mo...Ang baba-baba kaya ng boses niya!"

Regine: "Ano yung sinasabi mo, Pokwang? May sinasabi ka about Ogie?"

Pokwang: "Wala...Ang sabi ko, si Ogie, mababa...ang kalooban."

The mood of the night was upbeat and fun, its entertainment quick of pace—very typical Pokwang. But before she ended the show, Pokwang turned surprisingly emotional. 

She told Regine, "Hindi ko talaga akalain na mangyayari ito... Alam mo, Ms. Reg, thank you talaga. Nung nalaman ko na pumayag ka mag-guest sa concert ko..." She trailed off in mid-sentence, trying to stem the tears. "Umiyak po talaga ako. Salamat po!"

Regine let her have her moment, before saying, "Bakit ka umiiyak? Huwag, 'neng. Naningil ako. May bayad ito..." Then, with the laughter of the crowd trailing behind her, Regine exited the stage.

A back-to-normal Pokwang then quipped, "Kaya ako umiiyak, kasi yung bayad ko, napunta sa iyo..."

But concert producer Joed Serrano told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that Regine actually performed for free. "Totoo yun, naiyak talaga si Pokwang nung nalaman niya sa Megadrama concert ni Sharon [Cuneta] na nag-confirm na si Regine. At libre, ha!"
