"I don't wanna get myself distracted muna," replies Matteo Guidicelli when asked if he's courting his Wansapanataym co-star Maja Salvador.

Matteo Guidicelli and Maja Salvador may have worked together in a TV project, but the former was quick to clarify that it did not bloom into a romantic relationship.

The former car racer was laughing as he tried to explain the box of peanut crackers he gave to the young actress. They starred together in the two-part episode of Wansapanataym titled "Inday sa Balitaw."

"Wala po 'yon," he said in a short interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last week.

"Bilang thank you lang sa sobrang bait niya sa taping namin. Dalawang araw lang kaming nagkasama, sobrang bait niya. I've never experienced somebody that nice na babae na we worked.  And I noticed na paborito niya 'yong Nagaraya [peanut crackers]."

Matteo also said that this friendly gesture should not be given a different meaning because "I'm not making ligaw to her or anything."

The 20-year-old actor also stressed that having a romantic relationship with someone is not part of his priorities now.

"I don't wanna get myself distracted muna," he said. "For now, ayaw ko na maging more than friends kasi alam ko busy siya.

"Ako, gusto ko kasi concentrate muna sa career. Nagta-Tagalog lessons ako, nagta-triathlon, voice lessons. I wanna train myself and concentrate on my craft muna, mamaya na ang ligaw-ligaw."

However, Matteo admitted that Maja could really be a girlfriend-material.

"Maja is a perfect example—she's beautiful, she's very nice, she's complete. It's just that I guess it's not the right time now. Because siya, busy siya sa career niya. Ako, magsisimula pa lang. But I wanna get to know her."

After Wansapanataym, Matteo busies himself promoting his first single under Star Records, "Someone Like You," which is available only on the Internet.

Then, in November, he will join KC Concepcion and Derek Ramsay for a concert tour in the U.S.

The former Agua Bendita actor is also actively training for his newfound sports—biking, running, and swimming. He recently joined a triathlon competition in Cebu, where he placed third in super sprint, short version category and ranked 8th overall.
