Coco Martin graced the November 16 screening of Noy held in Los Angeles, California to drum up interest for his film. This docu-drama is the Philippines' entry to the Best Foreign Language Film category of the 83rd Oscars.
During the red-carpet screening, Coco wore a white tuxedo designed by Avel Bacudio.
A limousine brought Coco to the Raleigh Studios Theater on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood. It is located directly across the street from the giant Paramount Studios.
Filipino-American Hollywood actor Michael Copon was the emcee of the event, which was attended by members of the Hollywood press. Michael has appeared in various TV shows such as Power Rangers and One Tree Hill.
On Wednesday, Coco met with the Los Angeles chapter of his fans club called the Cocoholics. The matinee idol also had the chance to meet with the BeLievers, the fans club of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo. The fans also showered Coco with various gifts such as shirts, perfume and food items.
Biboy Arboleda, Coco's manager, accompanied his ward in touring The Grove, a retail and entertainment complex in Los Angeles.
Along the way, they bumped into Matteo Guidicelli who was with his manager Joji Dingcong that day. Matteo was in Los Angeles as one of the guests of KC Concepcion's U.S. concert.
"Nakaka-flatter kasi ang daming nanood na mga puti, yung mga foreigners sobrang na-a-appreciate nila ang pelikula," Coco Martin was quoted as saying when he was interviewed by ABS-CBN upon his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Produced by CineMedia, Noy is about a young man (Coco) who poses as a journalist in order to create a documentary about then-Senator Noynoy Aquino. Aside from starring in the film, Coco also co-directed and co-produced Noy. (CLICK HERE to read more about Noy)
Erich Gonzales, Cherry Pie Picache, Vice Ganda, Joem Bascon, and Baron Geisler also appear in this film, which aims to bring home the first Oscar award for the Philippines.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will continue screening the 65 entries until January 2011. Members will then vote by secret ballot to nominate movies for the Best Foreign Language Film category.
A short list of nine semi-finalists will be released on January 20, 2011. The final list of nominees will be announced on January 25, 2011 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles.
The 83rd Annual Academy Awards will be held on February 27, 2011 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.

hindi naman lahat ng kulang-kulang na sinasabi mo ay pare-pareho. ang karakter ni coco martin sa silbato ay may i.q. na isip ng bata kaya nakakaintindi. dennis trillo is good. pero hindi kayang gawin ni dennis trillo ang mga nagawa ni coco martin. pero if he wants to challenge himself, that is well and good. what films have you seen from coco martin? kung puro telebisyon lang ang basehan mo, lawakan mo pa. having coco and sid crossed over from indie to mainstream is very welcoming!
CONGRATS.CoCo..cant wait yun teleserye nyo with Maja N Andi..for sure si Andi

Coco will be judged against Bardem, and also against the other actors with films in the Best Foreign Language Film category. Iisa lang ang entry ng Philippine film. Kahit na si Coco ang pinakamagaling na actor sa Pilipinas, gaaano naman siya kagaling sa ibang actors from other countries? The Academy will not care, if Coco is the best actor right now in the Philippine entertainment industry. Bardem won as Best Actor, for this same film, Biutiful, that Mexico also entered in Cannes Film Festival. Is Coco better than Bardem? But first things first, will NOY be shortlisted? Will Biutiful be shortlisted?
is this like judy ann's supposedly entry to oscars before?
--------
Yes. PLONING. Submission siya sa Best Foreign Language Film 2009 category, for the 81st Academy. SUBMISSION lang. Sabi sa wiki, it was not nominated. PLONING of Juday was not shortlisted, not nominated. Mexico's entry for 2009, was Arrancame La Vida, was shortlisted. Wala naman silang maraming press releases for their fellow Mexicans, on Arrancame La Vida, kahit na shortlisted pa nga iyon. Mexico had been submitting entries for so long now, kaya alam nila, na ang SUBMISSION part, hindi big deal from the context of The Academy.

10:56 AM is this like judy ann's supposedly entry to oscars before? tapos parang di ata natuloy??? may nakaka-alam ba ng proseso sa pagsali dito?

A country submits an entry. That is it. So, panonoorin ang mga entries na iyon, ng Academy members, mayroong specific group of Academy members who screens all the entires. Then there will be a shortlist. Then they choose the top 5 yata iyon or top 6, na siyang babanggiting mga NOMINEES. As an entry, wala pa tayong mapagmamayabang. Naghahanap nga ako ng review ng pelikulang NOY , from US media, specifically to read merits of the film.

i think magaling siya pero not in all aspects. i've watched his maalaala mo kaya episode and im so disappointed with his performance in the said show. yung role niyang may topak hindi niya napanindigan. parang taong matino ang nakita ko, hindi yung may kulang2x. opinion ko lang yun. u said na pagsama-samahin lahat sa GMA. dennis trillo is far more better than him. c koko kasi, intense yung acting niya, wala sa timing minsan but his quite good thu.
