A still-unidentified explosive went off in the residence of actress-singer Angelika dela Cruz on December 18, 2010, in Langos, Malabon City. Reports say the incident occurred before dawn.

Angelika was shocked by the "bombing."

In a taped interview with Showbiz Central aired yesterday, December 19, Angelika described the condition of their house after the incident.

"Yung tiles, siyempre nag-crack na. Tapos yung gate, actually inaayos na 'yan. Nasira siya, naging itim."

The Kapuso actress also said that her brother Eric and his friends were in the vicinity when the explosion occurred.

"Yung brother ko, si Eric, he was outside with his friends, kung saan talaga sumabog yung explosive," she said.

"After five minutes, maya-maya may sumabog na. Bale iniisip ko lang na paputok lang. Sabi nila, pillbox. Yun pala, granada pala yon."

May nakuha silang shrapnel. Di matukoy kung anong klaseng pampasabog."

Angelika added, "Ini-investigate pa nga nila. Kasi may orangy liquid substance. Hindi nila masabi kung ano. Kung grenade o ibang klaseng explosive."

There is speculation that the explosion was politically motivated since Angelika's father holds the position of Barangay Chairman in Langos, Bulacan.

Since the time he assumed office, he has reportedly been receiving death threats.
