We just have to solve it a day at a time. We just have to stay focused this 2011. Kailangan masaya tayong lahat," says Richard Gomez.

"With the tax evasion case, we filed for amnesty, which is granted and approved already.

We just have to solve it a day at a time.

"We just have to stay focused this 2011. Kailangan masaya tayong lahat."

FORTE. On April 29, 2011, ipagdiriwang nina Richard at Lucy ang kanilang 13th wedding anniversary.

"Lucy is good in handling money, managing people," sabi niya.

"Maybe I'm good in the kitchen. Maybe I'm good in telling people what to do, how to do stuff.

By definition Tax amnesty is an opportunity afforded to a taxpayer to rectify errors or omissions in past tax years or returns, it is also a LIMITED time oppurtunity to pay a well defined amount in exchange for forgiveness of tax liability without fear of criminal prosecution. Now the BIG question is, did Richard meet the specified requirements when he was granted the amnesty, if the error was corrected I'm sure BIR should know that. He should know the law , after all he aspired to be in congress, the lawmaking body. ..what an irony.

May Amnesty naman pala sya, as long as he pays the rest of what he owes to the government, it's about time. 2007 pa yung Case, It should have been taken care of already.I'm not familiar with Tax Laws sa Pinas pero IRS will garnish your paycheck if you owe substantial money to them and imprisonment, kagaya ni Wisley Snipes.

kapuska on 6 - Thanks sa super super like ng comments. Pero sad to say - meron atang tinamaan and did not appreciate my point of view about tax evaders. Kaya hayan ipinabura. Grabe !To each his own ika nga. At the end of the day, Richard Gomez will have to part with some money to pay his taxes. Whether he has an amnesty or not - bottom line is an amnesty is a settlement. It does not completely wipe out his obligation.

abel pinoy I learned several things from your post. Thank you. I also share your sentiments about PEP. Moderators are definitely not consistent. Just read articles of Angel Locsin, Marian Rivera, Sarah Geronimo, etc. Yes, nakaka-walang gana.

I find it really amusing that some people who do not have clear knowledge of the law, tax evasion, amnesty, can pass harsh judgment to other people. Tax evasion is not paying all or part of the taxes you should have paid the government which could be intentional or unintentional. Tax evasion is a criminal offense which is punishable by fine and-or jail time. Amnesty is given to those people so they can pay what they owe the government. Contrary to what one poster commented, amnesty is AVAILABLE TO EVERYBOY, rich or poor, or even PULUBI. However, you have to APPLY for it. hindi siya basta binibigay. Maybe for lack of knowledge, maraming hindi nakakapag-apply ng amnesty. Amnesty applies to the criminal charges, not to the amount owed. Filing for amnesty does not mean that a person is a cheat. Majority of people, anywhere in the world, depends on an accountant to do their taxes and these accountants do their best so their clients will pay the minimum. AMININ MAN OR HINDI, karamihan sa atin, gumagawa
