Sam Concepcion is glad to be given the chance to lead the cast of ABS-CBN's teen dance drama, Good Vibes.
He recalls that his last teleserye was back in 2009, when he was part of ABS-CBN's youth-oriented show Your Song presents Boystown.
"May konting pressure kung paano ko gagampanan ang role," admitted Sam during the March 29 press conference of the show held at The Lounge, Tomas Morato, in Quezon City. "Siyempre, it's a lead role and mabigat rin ang pinagdadaanan ng character. Pressure for myself to be able to deliver as Marc Pedroza."
He added: "I'm excited, nervous, and pressured at the same time, kasi challenge 'to, e. Unlike yung mga nagampanan kong roles before, this is a little more mature. Hindi na ako yung bata na ghost na ginagamot yung kapatid ni Betty [in Betty La Fea], or batang super hero [like his character Boy Bawang in Super Inggo], or batang Piolo [like his role in Walang Kapalit].
"This time, eto talaga yung time to embrace the character, and that for me is a huge challenge. Dito ko masusukat ko kung ano yung limit ko."
IS SAM JEALOUS? In Good Vibes, his character Marc becomes jealous of his half-brother (portrayed by Enrique Gil). What would Sam's reaction be if he finds out he has a half-brother?
"I wouldn't really know how to react," he confessed. "Coming from my background sa family, it will never happen. It happens to a lot of families pero nakakatakot kung mangyari sa akin—kasi hindi ko alam, hindi ko pa na-experience yung ganung level ng conflict sa pamilya.
"Hindi ko talaga alam kung paano ako magre-react. Bilang isang pamilya, you're going to have to accept kung sino man ang kapamilya."
Is Sam jealous of Enrique for bagging lead roles in Good Vibes and Mula sa Puso? Enrique has been in the industry for only two years while Sam has been in showbiz far longer.
"No, kami po kasi we're managed by the same manager and I've known him even before he entered show business, even before he entered Star Magic. So I'm really proud of that guy.
"Alam mo yun, he works hard and he deserves yung mga projects na nakukuha niya ngayon. He's very likeable and madali rin siyang kasama sa set."

Sam is part of the all-boys group called the Gigger Boys, which also has Enchong Dee, AJ Perez, Dino Imperial, Robi Domingo, Chris Gutierrez, and Arron Villaflor as members. Enchong, AJ, and Arron have already started accepting sexy roles in TV and movie projects.
Is Sam ready to have a sexy image as well?
"I don't wanna rush anything. Siyempre, slowly I'm able to take on mature roles, so tumatanda nang tumatanda yung roles ko.
"Here in Good Vibes, you know, mas mature na [ang role ko] ngayon. It tackles yung mga mas complicated na feelings at mga situations...I'm slowly getting there. Right now, I'm still young.
"Mas bata kasi ako compared to, like, Enchong. So I look up to what they do and how they work.
"I'm just happy that I'm able to do a lot of things. Madami akong nagagawa. I take time with...yung pagka-youthful ko.
"I was able to record albums, I get to do shows like this, and at the same time I get to tour around schools for DepEd [Department of Education], and go around the country.
"Mabigat din yung value na na-e-experience ko, and I feel really blessed to be able to have those things."
MEETING TAYLOR SWIFT. It will be recalled that Sam was chosen to be the front act for Speak Now concert that took place at the Araneta Coliseum last February 19.
