Katie Holmes is planning an all-girls tea party to celebrate her daughter's fifth birthday.

The actress' little girl, Suri, turns five on April 18 and Katie—who is married to Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise—is keen to mark the occasion with a fun-filled bash.

Talking about Suri's upcoming birthday, Katie told Ryan Seacrest's KISS-FM show: "She wants a pinata and her girlfriends to come over and go swimming. We're gonna make a cake together!

"We're gonna have a little tea party. I kind of like to girl it up!"

As well as planning for Suri's big day, Katie is currently promoting her new TV mini-series, The Kennedys—in which she takes on the role of former First Lady Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. Katie  says filming it was very inspiring, especially when it came to dressing like her alter-ego.

She said: "What we tried to achieve with the mini-series was showing the human side of ... we set out to almost make it, almost like a Greek tragedy.

"We also created a lot of her looks—yeah, it was really fun. I still look to her fashion today and it inspires what I wear."
