DSWD files child-abuse complaint against Willie Revillame

"We are filing this case because it is our job. We do this for all cases of child abuse that we come across, and we provide services to everyone who needs our help. There is no political angle here; neither is there any hidden agenda, as some quarters may allege. Our main concern is to promote the welfare of the child and his family, and others who are or may be placed in a similar situation," says DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman about the child-abuse complaint her department filed against TV host Willie Revillame (in photo).

(CLICK HERE to read related story.)

(CLICK HERE to read related story.)

"We were able to individually view the segment from the internet, after it was uploaded on the YouTube website.

"As concerned citizens, we denounce the exploitation and irresponsible treatment of the six year-old Jan-Jan on the show Willing Willie.

"Revillame's actions and utterances constituted psychological abuse, cruelty, and emotional maltreatment of the child, as it debased, degraded and demeaned Jan-Jan's intrinsic worth and dignity as a human being."

SEC. DINKY SOLIMAN'S STATEMENT.

108 pluma ---- did you read the whole article? As of February 2011, DSWD have served 4,701 children who are victims of various forms of abuse. i do not think that DSWD is singling out Willie, although the outcome of Willie's case can be a wake up call for all Filipinos on how to properly treat children.

Itong janjan issue ay very disturbing because it happen on national tv kaya dapat Lang aksyunan ito. Yun janjan at action ni willie at ng marami sa ww ay lalo Lang nagpapababa sa ating reputation bilang pilipino at sana maparusahan si Willie o Kung Hindi man masuspinde o tape n Lang show nya Hindi live so naeedit bago mapanood ng marami.

I commend the initiative of DSWD. There has to be a closure to this case, whether Willie's act towards Jan-jan is an Abuse or Not. If the court rules that it's an 'Abuse', then Children should not be coerced to dance the same way as Jan-jan's. If the court rules that it's 'Not Abuse', then we can let our Children dance on TV like a Macho Dancers or Burlesk Queens without worries against criticisms.

DSWD are making themselves so pointless and shameful on this issue on and on. How about the countless children beggars all over metro manila, risking lives running wt babies on highways to beg for few centavos..where are you to claim this as your JOB Dinkydinky and Co.? why didnt you take up your Jobs to arrest and put behind bars these child-syndicates operating everyday in the streets of manila? How about the countless minors being preyed on in cebu, angeles city, subic, ermita, etc as prostitutes and as pedophiles run their sexual businesses all over the country? where are you to protect these minors against sexual abuses? what sucks is this, why such overreaction for a wrong cause? MTRCB is in-charge, not you. focus your duties to the more heinous crimes against children and minors nationwide, happening right before our eyes, everyday in manila. They need your help, not janjan!

I don't like Willie R dahil manggagamit at bastos siya.

In 2006, Dinky Soliman and some colleagues of the Black and White movement staged a protest to oust then president GMA. She was arrested but was released into the custody of former president Cory Aquino, who is also a supporter of the movement along with Leah Navarro. Dra Carandang, in her letter to MTRCB, cited the disrespectful behavior of Willie during the Aquino funeral. I just hope their motives to file charges are out of concern for JanJan, and not for political payback due to the funeral incident. In my opinion, there was no child abuse in the WW incident, but Willie acted inappopriately and for that it is only fair to be reprimanded and suspended, but not jailed.
