Representatives of Twilight star Taylor Lautner said news about him endorsing the local clothing brand Bench is a hoax.

They also said that there was never a deal for him to do the project.

The rumor spread yesterday, June 14, after entertainment news editor Ricky Lo wrote on his column "Funfare," "JUST IN: Taylor Lautner of Twilight fame has been tapped as the newest Bench endorser."

As soon as the reports came out, reps of the 19-year-old Hollywood actor immediately went to investigate and confirmed the whole thing as a "scam" and "an annoying PR stunt."

In an interview with Joyce Ramirez of PR Asia Worldwide, she related, "[Taylor's] lawyers are now discussing all probable legal rights they have against the brand who used Mr. Lautner's name for the free publicity."

Joyce brought Gossip Girl actor Ed Westwick to the country recently to shoot an ad campaign for Penshoppe, which is a direct competitor of Bench.

Ed is represented by the same US agency, WME Entertainment, which also represents Taylor.
