"I'll cross the bridge when I get there," was Diether Ocampo's simple statement when asked about his rumored romance with Kris Aquino.
He openly entertained questions from the entertainment press who he invited to his pre-birthday celebration held earlier today at a Pizza Hut restaurant branch in Quezon City.
The two have been rumored to be dating since they filmed the 2010 horror flick Dalaw.
Both single and unattached, Diether and Kris have clarified in previous interiews that they are just friends.
However, they have also been very open in admitting to the public that they still communicate regularly and they consider each other as "best friends."
According to the Guns and Roses actor, he doesn't want to preempt whatever the future holds for his friendship with the "Queen of All Media." He said that he is just enjoying whatever it is they have today.
Just recently, reports surfaced that Kris and Diet were spotted house-hunting together.
"Taga-Bacoor [Cavite] ako. Ang trabaho natin nandito sa Quezon City. Mas convenient sa 'kin kung dito ako bibili ng bahay.
"At siyempre, lumalaki rin yung pamilya ko. Yung brother ko umuwi galing States, so kumbaga gusto ko rin at least makapagpundar ng bagong ano [bahay].
"Oo, totoo. Magkasama kami. Kasi siya, marami siyang kaibigan na broker kaya ano... Mag-best friend naman kami e," Diether explained.
For his birthday, Diether—who described his current status as "single and ready to mingle"—wished:
"Sana ihulog na ng Diyos kung sino man yung babae na 'yon. Tagal, e."
"Kasi, sabi ko, di ba, I've been through so many relationships. And whoever that girl would be, sana yun na 'yon kasi ayoko nang mag-aksaya ng oras."
Now that he's turning 37, Diether hopes to end up settling down with his next girlfriend. But says he's in no hurry to meet his heaven-sent partner.
"If the time is right. Pero at this point, no rush. Maganda rin na nakakapagmuni-muni ako at nakikilala ko rin yung sarili ko, e.
"You know, I've done a lot of things na I may not be too proud of.
"But at the same time, I am also given this opportunity para maitama ko ba yung mga maling desisyon na nagawa ko in the past."
Was he pertaining to his breakup with his last girlfriend, Rima Ostwani? Does he have any regrets?
"Wala akong pagsisisi," he replied.
"Lahat 'yan, I embrace them as more experience. It's part of the learning process for me—something na nakapagbigay sa 'kin ng importanteng lesson sa buhay.
"What I really value is it made me a better person. Nalaman ko kung saan ako nagkulang and hopefully, if I get the chance and God will allow, the right person will come and dun maibibigay ko na talaga yung sarili ko nang buong-buo and walang pagdududa."
Diether also entertained questions about his ex-wife Kristine Hermosa who is now Mrs. Oyo Sotto.
According to Diether, he is very happy for his ex-wife and he is also sure that Kristine is also happy where she is today.
He also said that he envies Kristine and Oyo because months after their wedding, the couple are about to be blessed with an offspring.
"Hindi naman sa ano [naiinggit]. Kumbaga, we aspire to get into that kind of situation.
"Darating din yung time na magkakaroon din ako at bubuo din ako ng sarili kong pamilya."
Any feelings of remorse?
"Hindi nga, e. Parang lahat ng nangyayari sa buhay ko, parang I always embrace bawat [pangyayari].
"Whether it's good, whether it's bad, lahat 'yan kasama sa ano.
"Parang hinuhulma yung pagkatao mo niyan, e. Hindi ako naiinggit in a bad way. Siguro, I would say na parang siguro hindi pa time.
"May kanya-kanyang panahon, e. For me, at this point, ang dami kong responsibilidad na kailangan kong mapagangalagaan kaya dun ako naka-focus.
"Masaya rin naman kasi you cannot have it all, e. Like, yun nga, siyempre magla-lie low din sila sa caree, di ba?
"Ako naman, on the other side, masaya rin naman ako dahil ang daming magaganda't malalaking projects [na dumarating]."
But how is his relationship with Kristine these days?
"We're friends. [Nag-uusap kami] before, pero nagbago na yung aspeto ng buhay nya ngayon, e.
"Kumbaga, 'eto na yung part na parang you give all due respect to the people na [nasa buhay niya ngayon]," said Diether.
