Boy Abunda draws strength from love in coping with his mother's dementia

Basta rin lang si Nora Aunor ang pag-uusapan, nangingibabaw kaagad ang pagiging Noranian ng King of Talk na si Boy Abunda. At hindi naman niya itinatanggi na die-hard fan nga siya ng aktres.

Tungkol sa Superstar ang unang naging paksa ng kuwentuhan kagabi, July 21, nang mapasyal ang PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa SNN (Showbiz News Ngayon), ang showbiz talk show na hinu-host ni Boy Abunda sa ABS-CBN with Bianca Gonzales.

Maingay na naman kasi ang usap-usapan tungkol sa pang-ilang beses nang planong pag-uwi ng Superstar. Ayon sa bali-balita, this week ito darating sa bansa. Tapos biglang sa August na raw.

Pero ayon kay Boy, "Hindi pa talaga siya uuwi.

"Hindi kami direktang nagkakausap lately, pero lagi akong binabalitaan ng mga taong malalapit sa kanya na naroon din sa States.

"Basta sa pagkakaalam ko rin nga, may plano siyang umuwi, pero hindi pa final kung kailan talaga."

Hindi ba niya winu-work out na ma-interview si Ate Guy?

"I'm sure I'll be able to interview Ate Guy. I mean, sigurado ako roon. Hindi ko lang alam kung kailan.

"Ibig kong sabihin... I'm sure naman when she comes back, siguro naman pagbibigyan ako no'n."

Bakit hindi na lang niya puntahan sa U.S. si Nora?

"Dahil nag-aalaga ako ngayon sa Nanay," sagot ni Boy, na ang tintukoy ay ang kanyang Nanay Lesing.

"I will not be able to leave. If there's anything I wanna do, it's not a show. I can leave all my shows. They can all stop today."

HIS MOTHER'S HEALTH CONDITION. Ang sigla at ngiti ni Boy, napalitan ng pagkawala ng kinikimkim niyang lungkot at pangamba hinggil sa kalagayan ngayon ng kanyang ina.

On cam ay puno siya ng buhay at energy habang naghahatid ng mga showbiz news, pero deep inside pala ay sobrang bigat ng kanyang dala-dala.

"I will take care of Nanay who is now... not very well," pagtatapat niya tungkol sa kalagayan ng kanyang ina.

we love him,gay icon sa pinas,,kahit hindi kagandahan,,may utak naman,,isa syang role model,,may silbi s abayan na bakla,,decent at proffesional,,edukado,,smart,,,san kapa,,swerte ni BONG QUINTANA diba,,kung lahat ng gays ganyan,e di,,ang taas ng respeto ng tao,,pero mas madaming malalanding mga bakla na sige ng sige na nagbibilang ng kalaswaan,,hehehe,,ewwwww,,..we need gays na mapagmahal sa family,sa dyos,role mode,may values at modo,,hidni insecure at inggit,.maaayos,.at edukado,,we love u boy,,iba ka,,..god loves u at ang mga tao,,

I admire Boy Abunda very much, i have a mom who is now experiencing the same thing it is hard the one person you once see who has strength in the family could harldy recognize you and all that goes with this sickness.. very hard to accept but you have to. God bless Boy.

melody-If you are going to sympathize with someone, just offer comforting words that bring healing to the soul. Other things you want to say that are not comforting you need to leave for another time. His relationship with Kris is neither here nor there. The man is trying to cope with his mother's illness and to add something so irrelevant inflicts injury that he does not need right now.

Your concern for your mother is well deserved. But mind you, don't do that kind of attitude with your "best friend" Kris na matagal na yatang may dementia dahil kalog na ang utak. Kaya kung minsan I detest you much because of your association with Kris.

a lot of patience understanding are needed in dealing with the patient with dementia. they forget easily the present situation and what is vivid to them is their past. Sometimes we treat them as a child. what they need are compassion, patience, love, understanding. it's a 24 hour job and its very hard not only emotionally but physically. Tito Boy, I know you can handle it for ou have a lot of love in our hearts. God Bless and Take care.

I feel for you, Boy Abunda. Mahirap ang dementia, it is a progressive disease and as you said, walang gamot. There are a few, like Namenda and Aricept, that can only slow down the clock but not stop it. Understanding and compassion are important. Huwag ang kontrahin kung anuman ang sinasabi ng iyong mother. Her reality is different than ours. God bless you, your Nanay and her caregivers.
