Mother Lily Monteverde's 73rd birthday celebration at the Imperial Palace last night, August 20, was attended by celebrities, family members and friends.
Philippine Red Cross Chairman Richard Gordon and Senators Bong Revilla Jr. and Antonio Trillanes graced the occasion.
As did Superstar Nora Aunor, whose entrance at the venue, along with German "Kuya Germs" Moreno, was documented by members of the press.
Also there was Gabby Concepcion, who arrived in the Philippines a few days ago. He was away for several months doing shows abroad. He's back to do new projects and he is now managed by Viva.
The former matinee idol is slated to star with Ruffa Gutierrez in a Regal movie titled Ded na Ded Ako sa 'Yo. They will be joined by Pokwang and Jillian Ward in this horror-comedy flick.
Other stars present to greet Mother Lily are the lead stars of My Neighbor's Wife, namely Lovi Poe, Dennis Trillo, and Jake Cuenca. Jillian Ward, Mart Escudero, Ian Batherson, and Ervic Vijandre were among the other guests. Ruffa Gutierrez also arrived at the party with her mother Annabelle Rama.
Former GMA-7 artist Paulo Avelino was also spotted at the venue giving interviews, explaining his decision to transfer to ABS-CBN. (CLICK HERE to read related article.)
Baron Geisler also dropped by to greet Mother Lily. He revealed that he had just "graduated" from his rehab center last Thursday.
At her birthday celebration, Mother Lily revealed her plans to put up a foundation.
"Every day when I wake up, I will move forward to do the best for the movie industry," she said.
Her daughter Roselle told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that the foundation will focus on giving education to deserving children.
One of the highlights of the evening was when Mother Lily turned over her P500,000 donation to Mowelfund, which was received by Boots Anson Roa and Marichu Vera-Perez.
JAMES YAP AS SPECIAL GUEST. The Regal matriarch said she considers the presence of James Yap as one of the things which made her 73rd birthday complete.
She told reporters that she asked for only one gift from her son Dondon Monteverde: "I told Dondon, for my birthday gift, dalhin mo si James sa birthday party ko."
Dondon serves as the manager of the basketball player.
