Hototay to be pulled out from 37th Metro Manila Film Festival

"Yung kay Ate Guy [movie], talagang na-delay kasi ayaw namin ura-urada at baka masira ang project. [Nag-pull out] dahil sa taping at dahil sa sakit niya. It is for health reasons and also hindi na aabot [for the filmfest]," explains Mother Lily Monteverde (main photo) about her decision to pull out Hototay from the MMFF.

Mother Lily Monteverde has decided to pull out the Regal Films entry Hototay from the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival.

She made this announcement last night, October 20, at the Imperial Palace Suites during a press conference for the Red Cross Million Volunteer Run that will take place on December 4.

When asked for the reason why the producers decided to pull out from the annual film festival, Mother Lily explained, "Yung kay Ate Guy [Nora Aunor's nickname], talagang na-delay kasi ayaw namin ura-urada at baka masira ang project.

"[Nag-pull out] dahil sa taping at dahil sa sakit niya. It is for health reasons and also hindi na aabot [for the filmfest].

"She [Ate Guy] is still taping for TV5. In fairness to Ate Guy, she wants to do it talaga."

Nora is the lead star in the TV5 mini-serye Sa Ngalan Ng Ina.

Last October 4, the Superstar was rushed to the hospital. Doctors diagnosed her as having bronchitis. (CLICK HERE to read related article)

German "Kuya Germs" Moreno, Nora's business manager, also pointed out: "Nagpaliwanag na si Mother na magagahol sa oras at hindi pa talaga ready. Maraming revision rin ang nangyari sa script.

"Ako nag-iingat rin, sa dami ng entries sa filmfest, ayokong may sisihan pa. At least nalaman natin hangga't maaga."

NOT ATE GUY'S FAULT. Mother Lily also mentioned that she has been coordinating with TV5 regarding Ate Guy's schedule.

She said, "As a matter of fact, kausap ko kanina si Perci [Intalan, TV5 vice president and head of creative and entertainment].

"Ate Guy is an exclusive actress of TV5 so I have to talk with Perci.

"We are trying to let the public understand na wala naman fault si Guy.

"It's just that taping goes on until November 20. We also have to give consideration to Ate Guy dahil may sakit siya."

The film producer reveals that they have plans of pushing through with the project in 2012.

Patrick2010 salamat sa iyong maliwanag pa sa sikat ng araw na paliwanag tungkol sa mga rating na yan. Kung hindi pa rin nila maintindihan o ayaw nilang tanggapin ang objective na punto de bista, kakitiran na lang ng isip ang pinaiiral nila. Pasensya na lang tayo kasi walang gamot sa makikitid ang utak. Tatlong linggo na ipinalalabas ang Sa Ngalan ng Ina na totoo namang naiiba at napakaganda. Ayoko ng i-justify ng husto dahil baka sabihin naman nila porke't Noranian siempre all praises kay Ate Guy. It's their loss, not ours if they miss to watch such brilliant production.

Noranian ako pero agree ako na i-pull out ang Mano Po Hototay na ito kung hindi naman maayos ang script at kulang sa panahon. Quality project is synonomous with La Aunor and that's what her audience expect from her. Blessing in disguise ito para mabusisi ng husto ang comeback film ng nag-iisang Superstar.

Hindi mo pa rin ba napapansin na kahit na bumabagyo at bumabaha sa iba't ibang panig ng Pilipinas, na dapat kaunti lang ang napupulsuhan nila kasi iyong iba binaha, therefore off ang TV, or walang kuryente or something like that. Guess what, aba ang data ng AGB Nielsen, halos walang ipinagbago sa viewing pattern ng hindi bumabagyo at hindi bumabaha. Ngayon, sabihin mo sa akin kung hindi talagang mahusay magluto ng figures itong AGB Nielsen. Hay naku, expert si Gloria Macapagal Arroyo sa ganyang lutuan ng figures, itanong mo sa kanya at kaya niyang ipaliwanag ang mga milagrong ginagawa ng AGB Nielsen.

Isa pa, kung talagang gusto mong pulsuhan ang totoong viewing habits ng lahat ng mga Filipino, ang dapat sa mga metro na inilalagay nila sa bahay as reference, dapat every week or every other week, inililipat yung metro sa ibang bahay. Hindi iyan naka-fixed sa isang location na gaya ng methodology ng AGB Nielsen. With that methodology, ang pinupulsuhan ng AGB Nielsen ay yung viewing habits ng mga bahay na nilagyan nila ng metro at hindi ang viewing habits ng lahat ng mga Filipino. Kitang kita naman sa resulta, walang fluctuations ang data. Kasi nga, iyon at iyong same tao lagi ang pinupulsuhan nila. Flawed! Ang methodology na ito ay hindi papasa kahit sa simple probability and statistics class.

Ewan ba naman at may mga ganyang National Household Rating na kabulastugan. Look, industrialized countries like USA, Canada, Germany, France, UK, walang ganyang rating-rating na kalokohan na ganyan. Ang Pilipinas na isang pulubing bansa, a pitiful third world country at that, ay may ganyan. Kasi ang ganyang methodology -- that is 2,005 homes representing the television viewing habit of 95 million people, or a ratio of 1 home representing 47,380 Filipinos -- is flawed. Hindi iyan tatanggapin sa US or Canada. Hindi nga iyan naglalagay ng margin of error, basta na lang data at walang explanation ng methodology or ng mga data na nakuha nila. Hindi ganyan ka-cheap ang methodology ng Statistics Canada.

Even with 800 homes as reference, how can 800 homes represent the viewing habits of 35.6 million people? That's a ratio of 1 home representing the viewing habits of 44,500 people. That's flawed. Kahit ikaw siguro, hindi ka sasang-ayon na ikaw plus 44,499 more people will be represented by 1 home na may metro na hindi mo pa alam kung sino iyon o kung nasusuhulan yung mga tao sa bahay na iyon. Also, papaano yung nanonood ng shows via Internet, via IPhone or mobile devices? Yung mga nanonood via Internet or mobile phone, may mga trending ang popular subjects or topics, such as those of Yahoo Philippines Trending Ngayon. Hindi sila importante, ganoon? Also, hindi malinis ang record ng AGB Nielsen ha. There was a case file in 2007 against AGB Nielsen by ABS-CBN insinuating that there was a manipulation of results perpetrated by GMA7. The case was thrown by the court not by lack of merit but because of technicality, something like the case was filed prematurely, or something to that effect.

"The Nielsen TV Audience Measurement used by GMA is used by 21 companies including two other local networks, namely, TV5 and Solar Entertainment; Faulkner Media; CBN Asia; 13 advertising agencies and three regional clients. On the other hand, ABS-CBN is the only major local TV network reportedly subscribing to Kantar Media, formerly known as TNS. "Nielsen has been issuing ratings data in Mega Manila since November 2000 with 800 paneled homes in the area. Kantar Media's operations in the area, with a lower sample size of 770 homes, started only in September 2007. Nationwide, Nielsen debuted its ratings service in October 2006 with a total sample size of 2,005 homes. As it turns out, binubusisi pala nang husto ang script ng Hototay kaya nakadagdag sa delay. Ayon pa sa report ng ABS-CBN, ayaw raw yata ni Perci Intalan na kung anu-anong klaseng pelikula lang itong Hototay. Kaya si Mother Lily was quoted as saying that they are very careful in making this Nora film and Kuya Germs was also quoted as saying that "dapat walang mapupula kung ilalaban ang pelikula ni Ate Guy". Meaning, mahina ang script ng Hototay in its original form. Perci Intalan and TV5 being a co-producer of this film seems to opt for a high-quality film. Tama lang, kung binigyan mo ng quality TV project si Nora in Sa Ngalan ng Ina, marapat lang na mas mataas ang artistic value na ibibigay mo sa kanya sa pelikula. Kung gumastos nga sila ng todo sa Rosario na isang nobody lang ang lead, eh bakit hindi sa isang pelikula na ang lead ay isang Nora Aunor. Good move to postpone this film and revise it for the better.

Na-maniobra na ng AGB Nielsen ang rating ng Sa Ngalan ng Ina. Pero hindi nito naluto ang trending nito sa Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Ang totoong nagre-rate ay kung nagiging subject ito ng usapan sa social networks, gaya ng nangyayari ngayon sa Arab Spring. On that account, ang walang dudang usap-usapan sa social networks at talagang sinusubaybayan ng mga manonood ay ang Sa Ngalan ng Ina at Budoy. Of course, ang ibang shows ng GMA7 ay nagre-rate rin pero ang AGB Nielsen ay nagluluto ng figures to favor GMA7. Kahit nga sa Comelec may lutuan eh, base sa kung sino ang nakaupo at kung kanino nakikinabang ang commissioner, sa AGB Nielsen survey pa ba ang hindi?

Actually, ang rating ng AGB Nielsen ng Mega Manila is based on the viewing attitudes as observed in 400 homes. Repeat, 400 homes. These homes represent 35,607,000 people or 37.8 percent of the entire population, which is roughly half the population of Luzon. Will you accept 400 homes represent 35.6 million people? What about these 400 homes? Data suggests that GMA7 has manipulated results of AGB Nielsen survey in 2007. What more, puwede mong mabayaran at masuhulan ng groceries yung mga bahay na nilagyan ng metro. Bakit naman hindi? Kung may groceries na ang mga iyan, wala na iyang gagawin kundi manood ng shows ng GMA7 at hindi na kailangan pang magtrabaho pa kasi may sahod na from GMA7. 400 homes are not the representative samples of the viewing habits of people in Mega Manila. Bakit? Puwede ka kasing manood ng shows sa TV, sa computer, sa IPhone, etc. Isang indication na marami ang nanonood ng shows kung ito ay usap-usapan ng lahat, maging sa social networks like FB, Twitter, etc. Namaniobra na ng AGB Nielse
