POPCOM responds to Senator Tito Sotto's criticism of the "7th Billion Baby in the World" media campaign

POPCOM Acting Deputy Executive Director Rosalinda Marcelino: "What I know is one of the purposes of launching this is to make people aware that the population in the world, and in the country particularly, is increasing. And every government should prepare for this growth of our population, to be able to provide for the needs of that population."

(CLICK HERE for related article)

Sa salita ni Marcelino: "We're not the ones who launched the campaign.

"It's the UNPFA, United Nations Population Fund, who planned this."

PEOPLE'S AWARENESS.

Go TitoSen. Your detractors are totally ignorant of the fact that the bill is being scrutinized thoroughly because it will have a gigantic budget. 13B to be exact!!! Can your detractors say that spending that big amount of money on Reproductive Health can alleviate the marginalized. I bet no one among these people has closely monitored the Senate debates. You guys talk about people’s awareness and yet you are not properly informed about the financial health repercussions about this bill.

Tito Sotto should know better, if he is knowledgeable enough to know better. He should research these things first before opening his mouth. What does he know about the NFPA? The Philippines has a population explosion, hello.

To comment on this useless Senator's thoughts is to justify his feeble attempts on pretending to know anything. There is absolutely nothing wrong is letting everyone know that we just hit the 7th billion mark. There is no hype nor drama in this as this is one of those alarming facts that we can not do anything about lest we start killing those over 70, or consider euthanasia for the clinically dead, or start telling newly wed couples to consider adopting a dog instead of planning a family. Ah yes, we can start to responsibly care for our resources to ensure that we will have enough not just for ourselves but for the future of mankind.
