Eric Quizon on the network wars: "I think it's a healthy competition. And it's one way of keeping all networks on their toes."

Eric Quizon is equally in love with acting and directing. He says: "Gusto ko pareho, mahal ko siya pareho. Of course naging unang minahal ko yung pag-aartista, but itong pagdidirek it's something that I've always wanted to do. Siyempre ang maganda lang dito [directing], I'm in control, I'm a control- freak."

Bago Ang Isang Dakot Na Luha ay Glamorosa ang directing job ni Eric Quizon sa TV5.

Ang big difference...

"Well the aim of this one is to go back to the traditional soap opera. Kasi iyon naman... yung mga primetime  soap operas parang ano lang sila mga pinalaking soap opera lang naman talaga, e.

"Well this one we're trying to pattern this on Days Of Our Lives, As The World Turns, mga ganun.

"So it's going to be ano, gusto naming i-revive yung Flordeluna, Annalisa, Mara Clara, yung ganung tipo.

"So basically, wala namang pagkakaiba yun. Of course when you do a series whether it's a soap or ano, walang masyadong pagkakaiba.

"Ang difference lang talaga is yung scope, yung timeslot, but it's pretty much the same thing.

"You cannot really think na malaki ang pagkakaiba or... it's the same thing, pare-pareho lang yan," umpisang sinabi ni Eric sa PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) nang makapanayam namin siya early this week sa taping ng Isang Dakot Na Luha sa Meycauayan, Bulacan.

Ang most recent acting job ni Direk Eric...

"I did a stint for Babaeng Hampaslupa tsaka sa Pidols Wonderland.

"I'm just so busy with so many things in my life right now so isinasa-isantabi ko muna yung acting although I'm doing Pusong Mamon part 2, I'm just preparing for that."

Ano ang mas gusto niya ngayon; acting or directing?

"I like both. Gusto ko pareho, mahal ko siya pareho.

"Of course naging unang minahal ko yung pag-aartista, but itong pagdidirek it's something that I've always wanted to do.

"Siyempre ang maganda lang dito, I'm in control, I'm a control- freak.

I agree with Erika that it's a healthy competition. It's very healthy for GMA7, consistently re writing tv history with CONSISTENT high ratings and quality shows. Healthy for banks and creditors of ABS CBN as ABS continues to have shortage in cash resources hence resorting to loans and line of credits to syndicated banks. Healthy for tv viewers that TV 5 is trying very hard to compete with GMA7 and ABS CBN, which equates to move tv viewing choices and genre. I hope Eric can join me in giving congratulatory remarks to GMA7 for being the NUMBER ONE tv network in the country, and wishing ABS CBN to be able to move on with credit and loans challenges and wishing TV5 more LUCK!

dapat more networks pa, support different networks, dont be blinded by monopoly...ang Pinoy reklamo ng reklamo na walang mga trabaho, pero supportive naman sa monopoly or few players... 100 million ang tao, tapos dadalawa ang major malls, aapat ang burger or fastfood chains, tatlo ang TV networks.....tapos reklamo na walang trabaho, hello?!....pinapayaman nyo ang mga nagmomonopolize ng mga industriya natin.....more choices mean more jobs.

the network war is so unhealthy, dysfunctional, dapat, the network themselves should stay away from managing talents, that's the job of a manager! too many TV executives who are moonlighting as talent managers, big time, conflict of interest! They have to decide whether to work for the TV network or manage a talent agency? Stop the kapamilya, kapuso and kapatid syndrome!

pag baguhan kasi kaya exclusive contract kasi namumuhunan ang network to build them up, gusto rin kasi ng artista dahil sa nature ng trabaho nila may contract para guaranteed na kikita sila, it's only the veteran, talented and established actors ang can afford na mamili ng project and they don't have to audition kasi proven na kung anong role ang pwede sila. hindi tayo ka-level ng hollywood, ang tagal na nila, nagsimula din sila sa exclusive contract, may casting couch pa nga, ,,,sa atin tailor-made ang script para sa artista na i-cacast nila, sa hollywood baliktad, andyan na ang script o story tapos hahanapan nila ng artista na babagay sa character na nasa story, kaya nag-au-audition

Healthy? network competition? in a way yes, but sa nakikita ko masyado na nagiging divided ang mga tao . I think its better na wala walang exclusive contract, dapat the artist had to be auditioned for each role kung sino ang fit for the role, it's not because the artist has an exclusive contract or because sya ang popular. There are several teleserye na I have watched wherein the artist does not fit the role. Yun iba naman kasi nanalo sa contest, kaya sya ang bida, others naman kasi popular sya for some reasons, kaya binibigay sa kanya ang role kahit di bagay, but because maraming fans.So other artist na mas capable or mas mabibigyan nga justice yun role, nawawalan ng chance. Here in the US, either in movies or TV, lahat ng artist popular, or unknown goes thru an audition for a movie or TV projects, even hosting jobs. I think a lot filipino actors or actresses esp newcomers should go to acting workshops or lessons so they could play their role effectively.
