The racist allegations about the controversial cover photo of FHM Philippines continue. But its subject, Bela Padilla, reiterates on her interview with BBC World News, "We weren't thinking of harming anyone and we weren't thinking of racial discrimination."

Bela Padilla's controversial cover photo for the March 2012 issue of FHM Philippines continues to become a hot topic that it has now reached international headlines.

The cover photo, which was immediately recalled by FHM Philippines, showed Bela clad in a sexy fuschia bikini and being surrounded by "black" female models.

Below the cover was the blurb: "Bela Padilla: Stepping Out Of The Shadows."

International news agency BBC News picked up the ongoing debate and asked its subscribers whether the allegations of racism was intended on the photograph.

This was posted on BBC's Facebook fan page last night, February 28.

Like what happened on FHM Philippines' Facebook page last weekend, the BBC post was also swarmed by different opinions from its subscribers.

Facebook user Ruth Elias commented: "Definitely racist and offensive. The caption and the body language of the models says it all. They are all submissive."

Joanna Rimmer also posted a similar opinion: "I find it vulgar and yes, rather racist. Sick and tired of seeing women portrayed in this manner."

NO INTENTION TO DISCRIMINATE. However, in her interview with BBC News' Mishal Husain, Bela reiterated that the picture has no intention of discriminating any race.

The GMA-7 talent said, "I don't really have any idea that I would get such negative reaction.

"But I was proud with the cover we did because racism was totally out of our heads.

"So I didn't expect that we'd get negative feedback from it because we had no intention of discriminating anyone anyway."

Bela's interview was broadcast live last night, February 28, on BBC's Impact.

Here is an excerpt of that interview:

Mishal: "When you saw that picture of you and the black model behind you and 'stepping out of the shadows,' it didn't ring any alarm bells to you?

sweet irene, well im very sorry for what happened to your friend. she's definitely a victim of ignorance of her own filipino family. but let's face it, if you go to the social services department, why is 80 percent of the people waiting black people? why are peple on section 8 mostly black people? why are people on food stamps, cash aids etc ... black people? can u tell me why? why do they like to abuse the system and use racism and slavery to make the working class feel that we owe them .... hello? so i think we should also let asians, especially the chinese people use slavery because they were the ones who built the railroads right? also us filipinos, we worked at the pineapple plantations in hawaii, that's considered slavery right? why aren't filipinos using that as a ticket to get to spain? we were under the spanish colony for 300 yrs right? but you see, that's not the nature of pinoys and i'm damn proud that we work our butts off and we do not abuse the system to get freebies.

ang kikitid talaga ng utak ng ibang tao. it is not racist its just an expression of yourself. Sa pinas kasi pg black ka d tinatanggap ng mga tao kylangan puti ang mga artista. Ewan ko ba pero ung mga black sa atin ang sisipag nila. Kudos ky Sinoia, proud of you. Agree ako sa lahat ng sinabi mo. Come to think of it, ang black ang pinaka talented na tao from sports to music to acting.

donyame I hear you. But I also have a friend who identifies herself as African-American but has some Filipino blood. Because of her traumatic experiences with some Filipinos here in the states, for a long time she hid her Filipino identity. But who could blame her when er Filipino cousins would make fun of her color and her hair, and her own grandma didn't acknowledge her as her grandchild. And how did we Filipinos learn to belittle the Blacks and idolize the Whites? Maybe we should try to look back and reflect on how the Spaniards introduced the concept of beauty. We were made to believe that Mama Mary is the concept of beauty. We learned to hate our own color, our original Filipino identity. We slowly adopted the values these Spaniards taught us. Now, is it a surprise that we hate our own when from the very beginning we were getting this message that our own values and identity did not matter? Hello, colonial mentality.

EmilyB19, it's a little frustrating but I can surely understand where they're coming from because I have been there, too. It used to be a non-issue to me. Ilang books din binasa ko, ilang workshops and courses din dinaanan ko para umaabot ako sa ganitong awareness. But I do get upset when media outfits don't do something about it. Kasi napaka powerful nila, and they could have used their power or PRIVILEGE to change the status quo. But they did not out of ignorance or maybe out of their own need to be noticed? I show the pic to my Caucasian colleague and she was flabbergasted. And why not? Even White people, not all though, acknowledged their unearned and maybe unwanted White privilege. In fact, acknowledging White privilege and doing something about it is part of the White Racial Identity development. Well sabi nga nila, we make decisions or choices based on our awareness. Seeing ourselves as

i think most filipinos who grew up in the philippines and are now living here in states are racists. kse naman iba talaga ugali ng mga itim ano. they're very racists towards other races as well. from my experience, bibihira sa mga itim ang mababait. meron din naman pro i wld really consider that as a diamond in the rough. im sorry pro talagang ive had the worst experience with them especially sa work. they use slavery as a reason pra magpaka tamad cla and to just wait for cash aid, food stamps and free medical while othe people are working their butts off pra lang mabuhay lalo na at this time of recession. kya pwede ba stop talking about racism if you haven't been a victim of one. im sure maraming taga ibang bansa anf magaagree sa ken dito.

blame it on the white people they invented the word racism, ginawa nilang slave ang mga Africans, dyan nagsimula ang lahat, tayo din dahil sa influence ng mga Spanish akala natin pag-itim inferior hindi maganda, worst pinagtatawanan natin pagma-itim, again colonial mentality, we have our own ethnic group na maitim ang mga Aetas....we are not even comfortable with our own brown skin kaya naglipana ang mga whitening products
