The Philippines bagged two trophies at the recently-concluded 6th Asian Film Awards.

Shamaine Buencamino was named Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Niño, an entry at last year's Cinemalaya Film Festival where she also won in the same category.

Shaimaine bested actresses from China, Thailand, Japan, and Hong Kong.

In 2009, a Filipino actress also won the same award—Gina Pareño for Serbis.

Comedienne Eugene Domingo, on the other hand, was the People's Choice for Favorite Actress. Eugene was recognized for her performance in Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank, also an entry at last year's Cinemalaya where she won Best Actress (New Breed category.)

The winner for the People's Choice is determined by online voting.

A Separation, winner of Best Language Film at the Oscars this year, was the biggest winner.

This Iranian drama won a total of four awards, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenwriter for Ashgar Farhadi, and Best Editor for Hayedeh Safiyari.

Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank's Chris Martinez was among the nominees for Best Screenwriter.

Indonesia's Donny Domaraw was named Best Actor for his performance in Lovely Man, the story of a transvestite prostitute and the daughter he abandoned as a child.

Hong Kong's Deanie Ip was proclaimed Best Actress for A Simple Life. The film's lead actor, Andy Lau, won The People’s Choice Awards for Favorite Actor.

Taiwanese star Lawrence Ko took Best Supporting Actor for Jump! Ashin. Thai heartthrob Mario Maurer was among the nominees in this category for his role as a monk in The Outrage.

Best Newcomer went to Ni Ni for the Chinese movie The Flower of War.

The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate, a 3D Hong Kong-China co-production starring Jet Li, won Best Visual Effects and Best Costume Designer.

Wu Xia, another Hong Kong-China co-production, took home the awards for Best Cinematographer and Best Production Designer.
