Naiulat kamakailan ang tungkol sa proposal ni Bacolod Representative Anthony Golez Jr. na hiranging National Artist si Nora Aunor.
Ayon sa panukala, kinakailangang may maunang mag-nominate mula sa mga ahensiyang pang-kultura ng pamahalaan, tulad ng Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) at National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

German Moreno, TV host-producer ng Walang Tulugan With The Master Showman ng GMA, at overall manager-adviser at long-time friend ni Nora Aunor: "Deserving naman [si Nora], e. Matagal na… Meron namang pinatunayan talaga ang isang Superstar, like our Nora Aunor."
Former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada: "The title belongs to her. She was the first movie actress to be called The Superstar and she's a good actress. Luckily, it will depend on who will judge [or confer] the award."
Boots Anson-Roa, actress, MOWELFUND Executive-Director: "It's tough. I wish Nora, and whoever will nominate her, progress in this endeavor. I think she qualifies because lahat naman ng requirements, puwede naman siya."
Ms. Mary Grace Poe-Llamanzares, chairperson, Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB): "Why not? Nora Aunor has made a lot of movies that are really relevant in terms of the artistic value. For example, yung Himala. At saka, siyempre, representasyon din siya ng isang uri ng artista na marami talagang tumingala."
NORA AUNOR'S REACTION. Nakakuha naman ng reaksiyon ang PEP kay Nora mula sa malapit niyang kaibigan na si Glenda Kennedy, na kasama rin sa pelikulang Thy Womb.
Ayon kay Glenda, "Guy and Boy [Palma] received several text messages regarding the proposal for her to be the National Artist.
"We also watched on TV some of the celebrities' nice and positive comments about it.
"Tuwang-tuwa si Guy at lumulundag naman kami sa tuwa!
"Sabi ni Guy, 'Well, pag official na, hindi pa naman official, e.'
"Naglulundagan kami sa kuwarto.
"At least, may mga nag-iisip na sa kanya, isina-submit na ang pangalan niya."
