Jessica Sanchez makes it to the finale of American Idol.
The 16-year-old Filipino-Mexican-American will face-off with Phillip Phillips in the two-night finale at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California on May 22 and 23.
Joshua Ledet was eliminated after getting the lowest number of votes.
According to host Ryan Seacrest, nearly 90 million votes were cast.
Jessica, along with Phillip and Joshua, performed three songs each last night—Judges' Choice, Contestants Choice, and Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine's Choice.
Judge Jennifer Lopez chose Mariah Carey's "My All" for Jessica, while Jessica chose Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" for herself, and Jimmy chose Jackson 5's "I'll Be There" for her.
Judge Steven Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith, predicted that Jessica will be "the last one standing" after singing "My All" last night.
And after the Final Two were announced, Steven could well be proven right.
By merely getting into the Top 2, Jessica has now surpassed the record set by Jasmine Trias, another half-Pinay, when she finished third in the Season 3 of American Idol.
If she wins next week, Jessica will be the first half-Pinay and first Asian to win American Idol.
