Annabelle Rama announced through her Twitter account that she will be running as a representative for the north district of Cebu

The controversial celebrity mom-talent manager went to Cebu City Hall early this morning, May 18, to register as voter.

Her unofficial statement came in a tweet, correcting one of her Twitter followers who thought she was running for councilor.

“Mali ka. I am running for congress woman of Cebu,” was her reply.

This was backed up by a tweet from ABS-CBN News official twitter account @ANCALERTS which stated: Annabelle Rama confirms she is running for Cebu representative #RoadTo2013

The invitation to run in her hometown of Cebu came from her first cousin, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama.

In a statement from Cebu Daily News, Mayor Rama said in Bisaya, “Other actors are entering politics, why not her, when she’s already a Rama.”

Last Wednesday, a conversation between Annabelle and daughter Ruffa Gutierrez over Twitter first revealed the proposal.

Ruffa tweeted: “@iloveruffag read, Mom@annabellerama2 excitedly tells me that she’s being offered to run for Congresswoman in her hometown in Cebu.”

“I’m like, whattt?? Kaloka.”

To which her mom, in true Annabelle Rama fashion, replied: @loveruffag “Bakit ka ba na shocked! Kasalanan ko ba kung ako ang napili para sa North District of Cebu?”

Annabelle seems intent on running despite discouragement from his brother, Basak San Nicolas barangay captain George Rama as well as her aunt, Carmen Rama del Prado, both based in Cebu.

If the plan pushes through, she will be running against incumbent Representative Rachel del Mar.
