Former Ilocos Sur representative Ronald Singson lauded GMA-7’s decision to open a broadcast facility in the Ilocos region.
Ronald was one of the guests who attended the trade launch of GMA Ilocos, which was held last June 8 in Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
He said, “I’m very, very happy that GMA launched this new channel na magbibigay serbisyo dito sa Ilocos.
"Tuwang-tuwa kami kasi at least malo-localize ang news.
"Siguro mapapalapit na rin kami sa mga artista ng GMA. Mapapadalas na rin sila dito sa Vigan.
"Siyempre, kinakatuwa namin yun.
“Ang balita ko, this station will serve Abra, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and some parts of La Union. Parang naging sentro ang Ilocos Sur.
“We’re very thankful to the executives of GMA-7 that they chose Ilocos Sur to be their base…
"The whole Solid North will benefit from what GMA has done.”
POLITICAL PLANS. Does Ronald have plans to run again for politics in the 2013 elections?
“Wala pa, wala pang plans. I’m concentrating now on the private businesses.
"Siguro pag-uusapan pa namin. For now, we’re not talking about it.”
He later added, “Sa politika, wala pang plans.
"As of now, my father [Chavit Singson] is the governor and my brother [Ryan] is the congressman.”
It will be recalled that Ryan became his replacement as Ilocos Sur representative when Ronald resigned after being convicted and imprisoned in Hong Kong for drug trafficking.
