Paolo Bediones says no to stricter guidelines on asking questions in talk shows after Paparazzi incident with Ruffa Gutierrez

“Kasi if you put a limit on the kind of questions that should or should not be asked, then you’re pretty much curtailing also… well, it depends, if you consider it journalistic freedom… If it’s a news and information show or if it’s a strictly showbiz show, do the ethics of journalism still stand? Does it automatically mean if it’s a showbiz-oriented show, you throw journalism ethics out of the door?” opines Paolo Bediones about imposing stricter guidelines on asking questions in talk shows.

“If it’s a news and information show, or if it’s a strictly showbiz show, do the ethics of journalism still stand?

“Does it automatically mean if it’s a showbiz-oriented show, you throw journalism ethics out of the door?

“Then at the same time, what are the parameters that we wanna put, with regards to the questions that we want to ask?

“And based in history, a lot of them [talkshow guests] welcome these questions.

“Mahirap din yung maglagay ka ng limit as to what kind of questions to ask.

“Parang ako, sa palagay ko, it’s at the risk of the interviewer,” sabi ni Paolo.

    it was her birthday so ruffa had all the right in the world to just say things like, oh i dunno if i wanna answer that. or she could have said, guys, seriously, are you kidding me. pwede rin, can you just ask me sane questions, or ayoko ng mga ganyang questions, or gusto mo sabunutan/sampalin/kaladkarin/upakan kita, etc etc stuff like that. what she did was she went along e and looked like she was enjoying. so the others thought she was just okay with it. then suddenly, she went blabla on twitter. so then, what does that make her?

    eh it's just for the spirit of fun and candidness nga on her bday di ba. and they do this kind of questioning to past guests so bkit kelangang mag feeling binastos si ruffa eh ang saya2x nga ng segment na yun.grabe talaga sya magpaimportante hay naku

    Ruffa should have just said Sorry guys I could not be a part of this..period! E sumagot naman sya ng sumagot e so syempre feeling ng mga hosts and even the viewers she's game and enjoying herself din. but maybe after the realization sink in or who knows baka tinawagan sya ni Annabel at tinanong kung ano ang mga questions then saka sya napagalitan at nagdesisyon na iwan ang show

    If they took Ruffa backstage and BEAT her UP XXXXX the audience did not SEE it XXXXX GUESS what Ruffa still got HURT XXXXXX the point is RUFFA GOT HURT by their actions NO matter how you sugar coat it XXXXX the topic was way off track for a HAPPY BIRTHDAY SEGMENT and the result caused PAIN not happiness.

    i agree with you that it not cause happiness but otherwise. staff and writers should have thought of something else maybe a parody of her lovelife tutal makulay naman yun, or somethings else na makakapagpabango pa ng karir ni ruffa

    That is a COP OUT Paolo Bediones for an exec XXXX SOMEONE had the INTENTION to humiliate Ruffa on her Happy Day XXXX that person started it XXXX that person is ACCOUNTABLE XXXX does PAPARAZZI expect Ruffa to stay quite when she was VICTIMIZED on AIR by this BAD DECISION???? When a person with authority plays their personal POWER GAME with the company they work for XXXX QUALITY goes to PoPo. Ruffa was HURT and HUMILIATED XXXX she has the right to REACT and SPEAK OUT.

    here i disagree di sya magiging biktima kung hindi sya nagpabiktima she has a choice to answer the questions and sabihin pa na hindi sya sport pero later on with twitter and all she can explain her side why she decided not to answer..say perhaps, sorry guys hindi ko pwede sagutin ang mga tanong ng aking mga co hosts in respect to their wives/partners or whatever she wanna call them. i think in that way things could have been more easier

    Ganito lang yan Ms Ruffa, you could have answered it by saying "NO" or try to tap your intervwr na "MY KIDS ARE WATCHING, LETS PASS ON THAT QUESTION" Its very easy naman. There are two things you always need to balance in an intervw. Ruffa should also take the other side of the intervwr, nagiging maramdamin na ang mga Pinoy ngayon kasi pulos mga teledrama na lang ang mga napapanood sa gabi. Be an intelligent interviewee. If you felt that the question is foul, pwedeng sabihin you cant answer that. Ruffa, sinira mo lang ung relationship mo sa mga nakasama mo jn sa Paparazzi. God has given you the brain to think. Si Kris Aquino, very intelligent sya sumagot. Prangka sya kung ayw nya ung tanong. You dont need to put a drama on this. Ruffa, i know na natabunan ka lang ng emosyon mo that time, pero I hope pinakita mo sana ang pagiging veteran mo sa mundo ng showbiz.

    yep! hit the mark there. there are celebrities who know when to answer and when to shut up. Greta, for example, isa syang walk out queen pagdating sa mga questions na irrelevant for her or something na hindi sya comfortable sagutin.

    nakakatawa lang na kinabit pa ang issue na to sa journalistic freedom. we all know the kind of showbiz talk shows we produce in here, esp the hosts. imo, ruffa should have reacted with more grace. to tweet about it, after the beso-beso after that episode, is so plastik! it is a cheap act of backbiting somebody. she could have approached the staff and aired her grievances right after that. i find it amusing that ruffa considers paparazzi as trashy. she has forgotten the fact that she's one of those people who molded this show. naki-ride sya, endured the "trashy show" for some time. anyway, maybe she had enough already, and used this situation para makaalis. my 2 cents. :

    agree! ang mga showbiz talk show hosts kasi dito sa pinas ay hindi naman talaga mga journalists in the strict sense of the word, right? so wha journalistic freedom are you referring about? yung iba nga jan parang pinabili lang ng suka pagbalik host na. maryosep!

    I think the issue is not about the format of the show since Ruffa is very much aware of that segment every Saturday , she thought or expected that the questions wont be as in bad taste since there are kids watching and she knew of TWO which are her kids since it's her birthday. Even if the questions are not said in public the insinuation is there because the hosts said the first few words , and of course you can just draw your own conclusion. Kids will ask question, dont underestimate their intelligence. If I'm not mistaken, there was a question that started the host saying this on TV..Sino ang mas malaki..then he whispered the rest. So, it's NOT true that it was whispered, the insinuation is there, even if the exact question is not bastos after all they should have ask it in public then , rather than left the public to think otherwise. Some people who are not used to these kind of jokes does find it offensive. And for a birthday celebration, yes it was in poor taste. Maarte or not, Ruffa deserves be

    Ruffa knew that the show segment in question can be a bit risque yet she knowingly took her kids to see the show live? As for the question, sino ang mas malaki ang.... bahay? puso? tawa? Ruffa's kids would/should not have interpreted it the wrong way unless at their age they know things they shouldn't.

    cguro their motto is 'you deserve what you made your life of' kung binastos mo buhay mo dahil sa pambabastos mo sa ibang tao, deserve mong mabastos din at wala kang karapatang magreklamo dahil yung ibang binastos mo, di na lang nagreklamo.

    I think this is what went down. Ruffa's celebration of course she anticipated that there will be impt wishes from her friends and families. There were only 2 well wishers from like a chatity work. She was probably expecting more and this is what she gets. Bulong ng freakn palad. She didnt like it and i bet she has felt the show for awhile now and so the bday bulong triggered her biatchiness. That i think is how it all went down.

    arte arte kasi ni Roping...malalaman at malalaman rin ng mga anak mo ang pinaggagawa mo kaya ihanda mo na lang ang sarili mo or better yet quit showbiz para hindi maungkat at walang mang-ungkat. Mag stick ka na lang sa mga charities mo kuno...
