Eula Valdes was formally introduced to the press as an incoming recruit in the primetime Kapamilya soap, Walang Hanggan.

At the press conference held yesterday, July 5, at the Patio Carlito Restaurant along Mother Ignacia Street, Quezon City, the actress initially expressed how happy and blessed she is that she gets to join the powerhouse talents of the soap—which consist of Coco Martin, Julia Montes, Richard Gomez,  Dawn Zulueta, Paulo Avelino, Helen Gamboa, and Susan Roces.

“Napakasuwerte ko na kinuha nila ako para mapasama dito sa Walang Hanggan dahil napakataas nga ng ratings, napakaraming sumusubaybay sa teleseryeng ito,” said Eula, who came in a regal black ensemble for an outfit, accented by silver jewelry, and red kitty heels.

She hesitated to share too much about her mysterious character, Black Lily, who the teaser reveals as a villain out to seek revenge on Daniel Guidoti and his family.

Eula, who was also a cast member in the recently concluded afternoon soap Mundo Man ay Magunaw, told the press that there is pressure on her part to take on Black Lily’s character.

“Ang masasabi ko lang kasi, maraming nag-e-expect. Lalo na nung medyo lumabas itong Black Lady nga. Ang ine-expect nila is another Amor Powers.”

No, her character is not another Amor Powers—a role in the 2000 teleserye hit Pangako Sa ‘Yo that relaunched her as an actress. For starters, Amor’s cookie-cutter rags to riches story was already embossed in the Walang Hanggan plot through Emily Guidoti (Dawn Zulueta).

“I think role na ni Dawn yung from rags to riches—yun yung Amor Powers na tinatawag nga nilang peg na magiging powerful eventually.

“Ito naman is medyo… hindi lang naman siya kontrabida matatawag. Basta meron lang siyang mission na kailangang magawa para siguro sa sariling pagkatao niya.

“Kumbaga, para sa peace of mind na rin niya…” relayed Dawn.

DIFFICULTIES. Eula, a stunner at 43, admits that Black Lily’s character comes as a challenge.

“Basta mahirap itong role ko na ito, e. Medyo nahihirapan [ako]… Kailangan ko ng approval ng mga direktor kung tama ba ginagawa ko."

Her first shooting day got the seasoned actress jittery.

“Kahapon nga yung first day ko and sobrang ano ako... yung kinakabahan? Ang sabi ko nga, ang feeling ko, para akong transferee na estudyante.

“Kasi ang unang-unang mahirap para sa akin, kasi hindi ako kasama nung inumpisahan yung teleserye.
